An injury filled season, the lack of depth, and just some bad luck ruined the Falcons season in 2013. Fortunately, we have a slew of starters returning from injury and a lot of young talent in their second year. The biggest problem on the field for the Falcons last year was in the trenches on both sides of the line. Followed by that was shaky Free Safety play and now with Tony Gonzalez retiring, the Tight End position is a concern.
Luckily for us, there are plenty of prospects in each of our positions of need. After paying QB Matt Ryan over $100 million, protecting him should be a top priority, as well as improving the pass rush. The 2014 draft class is one of the best and deepest drafts to date, so even well into day 2 teams can find instant starters.
I believe given our problems, the strength of this draft class, and our FA moves, this is the best route we can take in the draft to give ourselves another run at the playoffs.
