There are a lot of different ways the 2014 nfl draft could play out for the Falcons. But one thing I do not see changing is the Falcons not landing Clowney when the smoke clears and the draft ends. Everything just makes too much sense not to make this happen. Lets get one thing clear from the start our defensive line was a lot worse than our offensive line last year and needs to see the most improvement this year. I think we are off to a great start in adding Solia and Jackson and keeping babs and peters but we havnt done anything for our pass rush and it really needs some upgrades. We all know its a passing league now and every team needs to have a pass rush the falcons plain and simple dont have one. While we have players on the team with potential like JM96 and a vet in Osi it's not enough to be contenders. Clowney is the best player in this draft and he fills our top need which is our pass rush plus he is versatile enough to play in our hybrid defense.
Now for everyone crying out we need a OT this is true as I don't believe in Sam Baker but TD and MS do and we are stuck with him for now. Resigning Mike Johnson and signing Carimi give us depth on the line as well and there will be ahuge battle for the starting RT position this year in camp. Now don't get me wrong a lot of these players are rotational not starting players so I do believe that we will get another tackle I just think it will be a fourth round pick I'm hoping for Jawan James from TN. And lets not forget what MS said in his Interview " the tackle position is very deep this year" translation we can still get a good one with a later pick.
Our 3rd pick should be used on a safety. My pick is Deone Bucannon but if he is not there Craig Loston would be a good pick as well. My point to all this is that pass rush is our number one concern and making Clowney a Falcon would alleviate some of that concern. I really hope TD males this happen and I believe he will what do you guys think?
