I'd venture to say that a lot of you Falcoholics know more about the drafting mechanisms than I do so this may not work. But, as you know, I'm an Idea Man, Jerry so what I was thinking was that the Falcons should offer up this years Second round pick and next years First and Second round picks or some such extremely attractive (I'm talking Eva Mendes appeal) trade offer.
Just calm down and hear me out. Pretend you're Dimitroff and the shine on your rep is less than in your hair and on your suits and the Big Boss has told you it's put up or shut up time. What is one thing that a slightly desperate but intelligent gambling type of fella would do? He'd let it ride on this year's draft.
And why not? We all acknowledge that this is a deep deep draft. The Falcons NEED a Tackle, a DE, and a Safety amongst a couple of other positions. Blank wants to win now (as do we all). This could be Dimitroff's last shot as GM for a few years. We've got many young players that will be with us next year regardless of our record.
Dimitroff works it out to where we pick up Clowney/Robinson/HaHa or some such combo and fill holes with awesome talent.
The Falcons go to the playoffs and do well, possibly even get to the Super Bowl and Dimitroff is golden and the fans and Boss are happy. If it doesn't work out great - the Falcons still have outstanding talent for the near future. So we take some lumps next year in the draft - that's what FA is for.
