"Fan" is short for "fanatic" which, of course, describes an unreasonable person. Can non-fanatic people who still enjoy sports and root for a team be considered fans? This is a legitimate question. Maybe only "positive" people can be true fans. As in politics when you notice things that are not so great and people in parties tell you that you are being unAmerican (a negative non-fan of Uncle Sam) maybe in sports the same thing happens. Can a person who gives credit where credit is due but also notices weaknesses and places that can be improved be a fan? What if the team they like has more deficiencies than strengths? Is it wrong for the person to notice or should they stick to just the positives and stay hopeful and positive the entire time? Is it more fun and fulfilling to only exchange similar views with positive fans or can it be fun to exchange different views with objective people? What are your thoughts?
