What factors make a team "elite"?

There's been some discussion lately about whether the Falcons are an elite team. Well, that depends on your definition of the word, doesn't it?

Here are some "eliteness" factors that can be easily quantified over multiple seasons:

1. Regular season winning percentage

2. Division titles

3. Postseason appearances (berths, not total games)

4. Postseason winning percentage

5. Conference titles

I'm sure youse guys can think of more "eliteness" metrics; your suggestions are welcome. Of course, there are also unmeasureable factors that can't be quantified. Those factors are pure EVIL and shall be avoided for our purposes here.

Out of boredom & curiosity, I thought I'd take the above metrics from 2008-2012 and crunch the numbers. If you rank each team from 1-32 in each of the 5 above categories (weighted equally), what happens? This does:

What's that, you say? The Falcons aren't elite enough here? If you remove the Conference title factor, they look better:

What other metrics contribute to "eliteness"? I'm sure that definition will vary greatly among fans, but perhaps these numbers are a start. Personally, I think that postseason success should count around half (but that's just me).

Please share your opinions, learned brethren! If we Falcoholics can forge a consensus, new and improved Falcons Eliteness Metrics are as easy as updating a spreadsheet. Cheers!
