2013 NFL Draft results: Atlanta Falcons select Malliciah Goodman with pick No. 127

The Falcons finally addressed defensive end with their first pick in Round 4

The Atlanta Falcons selected Malliciah Goodman out of Clemson with pick No. 127 in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Goodman was ranked No. 129 overall by SB Nation's Dan Kadar.

Experience runs deep with the 23-year-old defensive end. He played in every game as a freshman with the Tigers, and eventually became a full-time starter by his junior year.

His measurements are outstanding. Goodman is listed a 6'4, 276 pounds. He has has 11-inch hands and over 36-inch arms. His length is ridiculous. "Maybe the longest arms on defensive lineman I've ever seen," said Todd McShay after the Falcons made their selection.

Defensive end is a huge need for the Falcons, so this a solid pick. Cornelius Washington was on the board, along with Jesse Williams (DT), but Goodman possesses a lot of upside. There were times where Goodman would dominate games. Just watch Clemson's bowl matchup with LSU last year.

Now, Goodman is not consistent. He disappeared at times in college and didn't live up to his expectations. He recorded four sacks during the regular season in 2012. Those three sacks against LSU, though, directly display the upside available.

I like the pick. He will need to be coached up, but Mike Nolan and his staff are certainly capable of doing just that. If they can get him to sustain the energy we saw in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, watch out, other NFL teams. Great situational pass rusher for now.

Let's here your thoughts.
