As some of you may have heard, Richard Sherman tore shreds off of Skip Bayless this morning on First Take. The NFL.com article is here and the ESPN First Take video is here, but after watching another interview I wanted to share what Sherman said of Julio Jones a few weeks ago on NFL AM.
When asked who the best receiver he'd ever played on was, Sherman responded by saying it was close between Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones. He listed several reasons, all 100% accurate, about how Johnson was an absolute freak of nature. He credited Calvin's smarts, his athleticism and a multitude of factors as to why he was great.
Then, of Julio, Sherman states "Julio Jones is just such a hard working player. He's as blue collar as you could ever say. They traded and did everything for him, to get him, and it was worth it. I have never seen a receiver block so hard, run routes so hard, and he's playing the game like anybody would say it's supposed to be played. He's the anti of that (a diva WR), he's the opposite of that - I would say they've gotten their money's worth."
I'm not willing to put Julio, or any active WR, on Calvin's level just yet, but the props from Sherman is massive. Say what you will about him personally, but Sherman is a great, physical and ballhawking CB, and his praises are worth a lot in my eyes.
For a player who is known to run his mouth I found this interview showed off another side of Richard Sherman, he seemed very open and happy to praise opponents and it was a very different persona than the one I saw when he badmouthed Roddy. Thought I'd just share that small portion as it interested me a lot.
