If there is any truth to the Atlanta Falcons be in interested in Revis. He undoubtedly will cost us our first round draft pick and probably then some. In my mind there are 3 questions.
1. Are we really interested in Revis or are the jets trying to leverage another team like the 49ers?
2. Can we afford him?
3. Is he worth it?
To answer number one at this point there is no way to tell. TD and the rest of our front office are the only ones who know if we are genuinely suitors for Revis. DOL says who I'm not a fan of says not to get our hopes up about Revis but the fact is he don't know $hi+ no-one does except TD so only thing we can do now is sit back and wait and see what happens.
Now that I got that out of my system let's look at question number 2 can we afford Revis?
I think it is possible with the resigning of Matt Ryan because that will free a lot of cap space. I know Matt Ryan is going to get locked up probably for the rest of his career. While others feel he will command a ungodly amount of money Ryan is smart and he is a true team player he will make his deal very cap friendly so we can put the best possible players around him. Question number 3 Is he worth it?
This answers easy ABSOLUTELY. We returnrently hold the 30th pick in the first round of the draft and imo that's just a high 2nd round pick. What team wouldn't give a 2nd round pick for Revis island? I would much rather have arguably the best cb in the league than gamble on a 1st round pick and hope he lives up to the expectations of a 1st round pick. Revis would also fill a position of need albeit not the biggest need its still a need and we could still fill those needs in the draft maybe even FA.
On a side note TG is only going to return based on our off season moves and he feels we can get him a ring. A trade for Revis would definitely help his decision. Tell me what you think of the Revis idea.
