The Falcons under Thomas Dimitroff have never been afraid to make a bold move.
Some of those moves (Julio Jones, Michael Turner) have worked out well. Others have failed (Dunta Robinson). If we've learned one thing from the last five years, though, it's to never totally discount a rumor.
The latest rumor is one we've discussed idly before, but it's a doozy. According to the New York Daily News, the Falcons and 49ers are the two teams that have the most interest in trading for Darrelle Revis.
Obviously, this would be a blockbuster. The Falcons would have arguably the best secondary in the NFL if they manage to get Revis to go with Asante Samuel, Robert McClain and (assuming they re-sign him) William Moore and Thomas DeCoud. That would make up for shortcomings in the pass rush in a hurry.
It will also be expensive. The Falcons would likely to have to surrender a first round pick at minimum, and probably a lot more than that. When you add a lucrative extension to the mix, it's fair to wonder if it's worth the amount you'd be giving up, even if Revis is a once in a generation talent, which he is.
This could be a gamechanger for the Falcons, either way. What are your thoughts on the possible trade?
