One of the biggest questions of the year.
With all the cuts and cap space and draft discussion around here, you could be forgiven for momentarily losing sight of everyone's favorite vegan tight end.
The latest news on Tony Gonzalez, of course, is that there is no latest news. The veteran tight end is still being relentlessly wooed by players, coaches and the front office, and he still hasn't decided if he's retiring or coming back. With the league year beginning in just nine days, we're all hopeful a decision will be forthcoming.
If he walks away, the Falcons have some tough decisions to make at the tight end position. They can draft a Tyler Eifert or Gavin Escobar, bring in a Jermichael Finley or Jared Cook or just roll with Michael Palmer, Chase Coffman and whatever else they can find.
The good news, of course, is that Tony Gonzalez is a team-first guy with one of the best attitude in sports, so the Falcons may be able to get him to commit to $4-5 million for the year if he returns, even though he clearly deserves more than that. Just a hopeful guess, of course.
Update us with your best guess at whether Gonzo returns.
