We're one step closer to finding out who will grace the cover of our hypothetical Falcoholic video game. The next round of voting is now open.
The most recent round of voting for our mythical Falcoholic video game cover has concluded, and the results are interesting.
Current Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan emerged victorious over retired offensive lineman Jeff Van Note, with Ryan receiving 90.9% of the vote. Falcons legend Jessie Tuggle hammered Sean Weatherspoon, pardon the pun, with 76.4% of the vote. In landslide victories, Roddy White bested Warrick Dunn with 90.6% of the vote, Tommy Nobis beat out Ray Buchanan with 80.4% of the vote, and it wasn't even a question for the winningest coach in Falcons history, as Mike Smith received 96.1% of the vote, compared to Dan Reeves with 3.9%.
The remaining matchups were more of a challenge for voters. Claude Humphrey edged out John Abraham, 50.9% to 49.1%. Julio Jones received 58.5% of the vote versus Jamal Anderson, with 41.5%. The voters chose current Hall of Famer Deion Sanders over future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, but it wasn't easy. Sanders received 53.8% of the vote compared to Tony G.'s 46.2%.
Brace yourselves, Falcoholics, because this round of voting presents us with some challenging choices. How does one choose between the current face of the Falcons franchise, Matt Ryan, and a Ring of Honor member, Jessie Tuggle? A cornerstone of the contemporary Falcons passing attack, Roddy White, or Atlanta's all-time sacks leader, Claude Humphrey? The very first player to be drafted by the Falcons in 1966, Ring of Honor member Tommy Nobis, or the coach who is largely responsible for the current culture of success in Atlanta, Mike Smith? A current Hall of Famer, Deion Sanders, or an ascendant young receiver with limitless potential, Julio Jones? Check out the updated bracket below, make your choices, and discuss in the comments.
