Brent Grimes is the best free agent corner out there. And [spoiler alert] the Falcons expected him to assess his value. He met with the Dolphins yesterday, then he met with the Browns today. Yuck.
To be clear, the Falcons aren't done with him. They've engaged his people, and now he's understandably evaluating his options. D. Orlando Ledbetter "accidentally" misreported his signing earlier this week. Difficulty reading text messages written in plain English aside, it certainly got our hopes up.
To be frank, I'm of the opinion that we need Grimes. We cannot afford to let him walk. If we do, we're just one Asante Samuel shoulder injury away from relying heavily on some unproven talent. It may not scare everyone, but it scares me. I understand the flip side - there's inherent risk involved. Grimes will turn 30 shortly and the nature of his recent injury begs some serious questions. Will he still be able to leap over buildings? Methinks the answer is yes.
