The veteran tight end made close to $6 million last season.
Go ahead and cautiously chalk this one up under good news: Tony Gonzalez is apparently targeting about the same money he made a year ago.
This report comes to us via Jay Glazer, but Will Brinson was polite enough to route it to those of us who either can't or won't watch television right now. Let us celebrate!
.@jayglazer says on @nflnetwork that Tony Gonzalez will get "the same thing as last year" contract-wise.

That number would be a little less than $6 million, around $5.9 million, and would represent less than the $7 million Gonzo was said to be seeking in previous reports. That extra million and change could be the difference between signing another free agent or passing on one, so it's good news. If you don't think Tony Gonzalez deserves around that much money, you're crazy.
We'll know more once negotiations with the Falcons proceed, but this is a spot of encouraging news early on. Let's continue to celebrate #88's return!
