File this under increasingly obvious: The Falcons simply aren't going to make a run at Darrelle Revis.
This was always more pipe dream than realistic possibility, but with the Falcons clearing a ton of cap space and Revis reportedly interested in moving to a contender, it was a possibility. Far be it from me to point to a nebulous "team source" as a reason to shut down rumors, but....yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do.
Source familiar with Falcons' situation on possible Darrelle Revis trade to Atlanta: "Absolutely not."

This makes sense on multiple levels. The Falcons have inked William Moore and reportedly plan to bring back Tony Gonzalez, so it's not like they're swimming in cap space to begin with. Revis would command a huge contract and draft picks, something the Falcons may be loathe to give up in a deep draft. And finally, Asante Samuel, Brent Grimes and Robert McClain would already be a pretty effective trio in the defensive backfield.
Bottom line, too expensive, as great as Revis is. Let's move on to the more realistic possibilities, which we'll surely know more about in a few short hours.
