Hello, everyone. By the time I finish this, it will be Christmas Day in the Eastern time zone. it is my hope that all of us will be safe, and at peace if at all possible. As I ponder for a few moments, please bear with me. I know that we are bonded together by the common love of the Atlanta Falcons. It has been my privilege to see them play from the beginning of this franchise. Along the way, many others have come to join us on this never dull ride of fandom.
Friends, I would ask you to forgive me if I have ever caused you offense or grief. I would also ask you to remember that each of us bears an opinion. We too often take the expression of opinion for granted-using it as a means of decrying or diminishing the thoughts of others. I have loved and played and coached the game of football. I would remind myself that with all that, I have never been at the professional level. It is most difficult for those who are there to sacrifice their bodies, dreams and abilities for one purpose-for us and our entertainment. Yes, they are paid highly-but who among us would even dare to think that we could know better (or do better)? Not I.
Mike Smith, with everything that he has been through, may have not gotten a Super Bowl championship, but he has done his job. I myself have expressed my desire to see a change at the head coaching position. I now refute that. We cannot know what the future holds for any of us-yet if it was us in his place, would we not want a chance to make things better? Whether or not changes take place among those who run the organization, the players must also have the opportunity to correct things as well.
We gnash our teeth at draft day, thinking we are ___ pieces away from a championship. I wish that were so. It takes everyone on the team to be a team. A handful of individuals with all the talent in the world may hold sway for a little while, but a team that is determined to strive together, work together, and build together will accomplish what they seek. This forum, to me, is the finest team there is. That includes all of us. Let's keep the best by being the best-to those who moderate, contribute, and build this Falcoholic Nation. Merry Christmas, brothers and sisters. Falcons Forever.
