Hey there, Falcons fans!
This Sunday will see a rematch of the single most exciting playoff matchup of the 2012 season as Seattle travels to the Georgia Dome to take on your Atlanta Falcons.
It's no secret that neither teams has lived up to expectations in recent weeks. Atlanta has struggled at times after being a trendy Super Bowl pick in the offseason, and while Seattle shows a dominant record on paper, they have been humbled against lower tier teams over the past two weeks, showing weaknesses in the offensive line defending against the pass rush and being gashed through their normally dominant run defense. The 'Hawks have played disorganized ball in the first half in their past couple games, only to get things together in the last two quarters and come back to make things interesting, with games being decided on the final drive with big plays in the last thirty seconds.
Something you lot should be familiar with seeing from last year, I'm guessing.
The stage is set for a great game. Atlanta certainly has the potential to be a better team than their record would indicate and are playing host in the former home of WCW. The key to the Seahawks' Achilles heel has been revealed: A strong running game designed to slowly but surely march down the field, wearing down the defense while playing mistake-free ball and then capitalizing. It's the same plan Seattle has used to such success these past two years, so it's humbling to have watched it turned against us, but we'll see if Atlanta can muster up the same testicular fortitude to strike while the iron is hot and take advantage. Likewise, we'll see if Seattle can shore up their discipline that's been such an issue, cut down on the penalties, and keep their offense on the field long enough to generate some new momentum.
Seattle fans will be keeping tabs here, so anything you care to find out about this week's worthy foes, feel free to ask.
