How we got here and what must we do to get back to chasing the Lombardi Trophy

What hurts so bad about this season is that we waited all off season in heavy anticipation of this being the year we win the title. The Falcons fans did their best poker impressions and finally went all in as fans. Tickets sold out the first day. Fans showed up to training camp just to watch practice. Yes practice, Flowery Branch had large crowds daily with everyone hoping to get an up close and personal experience with the Super Bowl Contenders.

Well, only halfway thru the regular season those same fans now know that the 2013 Football season is done. Fans feelings about the team range from being disappointed, angry, disgusted, and some hopefuls.

Not many people saw this coming, I certainly didn’t. Even with the injuries I would not have thought we would be sitting at 2-6 halfway through the season.

So as hard as it is, its time to move on. Moving on does mean changes must be made. The first line of business in the off season is assessing the front office and coaches. Some options I’ve heard are we need a new Offensive coordinator, strength and conditioning, o-line coach, d-line coach, head coach, GM. I think they all should be evaluated. I don’t have an opinion yet on who should stay and who should leave, I would like to see how the season plays out. I do know that my reasons for the 2-6 are all the players that are no longer on the team and they are as follows:

1. Todd McClure

2. Tyson Clabo

3. Dunta Robinson

4. John Abraham

5. Michael Turner

6. Vance Walker

7. Mike Peterson

8. Brent Grimes

9. Will Svitek

10. Christopher Owens ( playing well in Cleveland)

11. Lawrence Sidbury (got hurt in pre-season)

That’s a lot of players gone in one off season.

This is a two part question:

What front office members are on the hot seat?

What players on the list should have been retained by the team?
