Falcons Off season Moves and 2013 Draft Projections

I would like to start off by saying that I strongly believe that the Falcons can win it all next year with a few savvy moves this off season. I believe in the front office whole heartedly and I think Dimitroff has done a great job so far. This is just my take on what I would hope to see this offseason.

Departures

Todd McClure

Tony Gonzalez

Brent Grimes- I can’t see the Falcons paying him the money he will be seeking this off season.

Michael Turner- The writing is on the wall here.

****My wildcard cap casualty this year is Tyson Clabo. I think we could trade him for a 5th or 6th round pick in this year’s draft and add an OG to the lineup. He did a good job this year but I think Lamar Holmes could possibly fill this position. This is highly unlikely, but would give us some additional room to play with in free agency. ****

Free Agency

Jared Cook- TE Tennessee

A nice TE who can step in right away and have a positive impact

Michael Johnson- DE Cincinnati

Johnson is a nice DE who could add some good depth

Ray Maualuga- MLB Cincinnati

I would love for the Falcons to get a solid MLB that can stop the run. I don’t think Maualuga would be too expensive.

Rolando Mcclain-MLB Oakland

Rolando Mcclain is another guy who should get a look in free agency.

Signings

Sam Baker- He has earned and solidified his spot as the Falcons left tackle for years to come.

William Moore- This is a no brainer.

Michael Palmer

Antone Smith

Vance Walker

Robert Mcclain

Drew Davis

Matt Ryan- He will get his extension this off season; I just hope it gets done before Joe Flacco sets the market price.

Draft Projections

Round 1

Margus Hunt- DE SMU

This guy is a freakish athlete with great size and speed.

Round 2

Arthur Brown- OLB Kansas State

Giovanni Bernard- RB North Carolina

Round 3

Brandon Williams- DT Missouri Southern State

Round 4

Nico Johnson- ILB Alabama or John Bostic- ILB Florida

*I would love a RB like Marcus Lattimore out of South Carolina or Mike Gillislee out of Florida, but I doubt they would be available.

Round 5

Jonathan Franklin- RB UCLA- I would like to see more pass catching out of the backfield from this guy, but I think he can be something special in the NFL.

Keith Pough- OLB Howard

Round 6

Johnny Adams- CB Michigan State

Tyrann Mathieu-CB LSU

I think Mathieu is worth the risk as a late round pick, he can be a game changer on special teams and a decent rotation player on defense.

Round 7

Ryan Griffin-TE UCONN
