The sky still isn't falling....
The falcons played their butts off Sunday and came up short. On the radio today falcons fans were calling in to 790 the zone to vent their frustrations about Georgia sports teams. People are really suicidal about this loss! I used to take losses by my home team hard but I realize something....it's not that serious. Players, coaches, GMs, even owners come and go fandom last forever. Losing has nothing to do with the dreaded "curse of Georgia sports teams," it has everything to do with dealing with the fact that ANY team can win or lose. Sure we need play makers on offense and defense, but that is not to say our guys didn't give it their all Sunday....they did.....but the plays weren't made.
But, the falcons will be back next year, because the falcons have staying power. I mean, wouldn't everyone agree that Matt Ryan is better than Vick, Chandler, Miller, and any other QB in falcons history? He's been healthy compared to his predecessors, passed for more yards, more TDs, and knows how to put mistakes behind him. You could say he's one of the top five QBs in the league, and the falcons have never had that. Roddy White is a star playmaker along with Julio Jones so what are we crying about? We also have competent people running the team with cap space so there isn't any signs of a down year next year.
So how can we deal with the pain of our teams loss? Support your team each year, support the Atlanta teams period, be proud of the progress our teams have made, and be positive before during and after the game. Because the falcons are our team, and the team knows it.
