Have Patience with the Falcons

People all over the internet constantly complain about the short comings of the Falcons. My response is simply to have patience. Dimitroff and Smitty aren't trying to build a team simply to win a Super Bowl. I'm sure they could sell out for one season and win a championship, but that doesn't even scratch the surface of their intentions. They want to build a dynasty. Dimitroff was around for the prime years of the Patriots. Does anyone honestly believe that he would be willing to settle for anything less at his next stop?

Let's have a quick look at the recent past. At the end of the 2001 season, we were on the rise. Won a playoff game at Lambeau in the snow in 2002. Lost in the NFC Championship to Philly in 2004. Then it all came crashing down. Our only real star player and savior is in jail. Coach quit on us before the season was over. In 2007, the team went 4-12. That puts us on par with the Raiders, Eagles, and Lions of 2012.

Now to the more recent era, where everyone already knows the stats. A team that has never had consecutive winning seasons now has five straight. Two NFC South titles for a team that only has five in its existence. There are a ton more stats that could go here, but I'll let the readers fill in with their favorites. The thing to takeaway is that this is new territory for this team, especially if this success is sustained.

Remember the years of struggle and appreciate the team and success that you do have. And with a little patience and luck, hopefully we will be able to brag about being the last team standing one day. Hopefully, we can stray away from the path of the Eagles circa 1999-2010 that went to five NFC Championships, but only has one Super Bowl appearance to show for, but if not, I'll be here watching and cheering on these Falcons anyways.
