The Falcons signed cornerback Dominique Franks back to the roster and waived-injured wide receiver Tim Toone on Monday. This news comes shortly after Franks was released last week, while Toone made the first active roster of his career.
Well, that was a short departure for Franks. The full details of this story have yet to be released, but it appears Toone is dealing with some unheard of issue at this point.
Atlanta fans are surely split on the news today. Franks, despite his poor showing in preseason, seemed to be a fan favorite here, and a huge outcry swept social media boards when he was shown the door during final roster cuts.
A couple teams reportedly showed interest in Franks over the past few days. The Chiefs and Dolphins were both linked to his name, but he now returns to the team that drafted him out of Oklahoma.
Toone unfortunately will not be taking over the punt returning duties as many of us had hoped. Maybe this job is left to Franks now? Hopefully we will learn more about this ongoing story as the day progresses, but for now Franks is in, and Toone is out. Assuming he clears waivers, Toone can be placed on injured reserve. Thoughts?
