dear falcon comrades
i feel the fo has been doing a great job but i have to mention 2 decision that i feel were totally bone-headed.
the first was letting harvey dahl get away and releasing curtis lofton.
in dahl's case the fo lost sight intangibles. mcclure may have called the signals but the ol played to dahl's attitude. dahl set to the tone and temperment for the entire line.
i recall one play where a db came up to the line and and made a play on ryan in the back field.
on the next play dahl took it upon himself to visit the db and proceded to plant and water him. the db was not seen at the line again.
this is the same attitude a pitcher has when he dusts a player off at the plate who the inning before tried to spike his short-stop on a slide into 2nd base.
these attitudes and intangibles do not come with everyone. 6'5" ,300 lb are easy to find but this type of leadership is rare. the fo needs to be careful here.
i can say much of the same about lofton who brought a lunch pail attitude to linebacker.
lofton was a fine and established force in the falcon defense. no offense, but tatupu and dent can't carry lofton's jock strap.
intangilbles mean something as well as pure ability.
best regards
