The Atlanta Falcons got a chance to chat with the media today, and as you might expect, there's a lot of interesting quotes swirling around. Alex Welch attended the OTAs today and will have what I suspect is oodles of quality posts in the near future, too, so gird yourselves for that.
But I want to take a second to discuss a very simple, elegant and exciting quote from one William Moore, Atlanta Falcons safety. It comes to us from the official Atlanta Falcons Twitter feed, and here it is:
Moore: It's a totally different atmosphere out here. The defense is more aggressive.
I don't need to tell you why this is important. The Falcons defense of the past was too staid, too bend-but-don't-you-dare break to suddenly switch into another gear when needed. Against running teams, it was potent. Against pure passing teams, the lack of a consistent pass rush and the nasty habit of leaving defensive backs on an island cost the team games.
We'll need to wait for a while to see if this is just a meaningless pre-season platitude or not, but I think we can all get a little excited about the thought of seeing a more aggressive defense from Mike Nolan in 2012.
Do you think we'll see the results when the season arrives?
