A fair amount of fans and critics believed Cody Pearcy would make the Falcons roster for the 2012 season. All of those predictions will have to be revised now, as Atlanta waived the young wide receiver Thursday.

I was never big on Pearcy solely due to his measurements. At 5-foot-11, 160 lbs. he's about my size, which isn't saying much.

He set all kinds of records in college at Huntingdon, and even though it was DIII football, he still has a ton of talent. Pearcy appears to have a great work ethic and decent hands, plus his pro day numbers were ridiculous. This won't be the last we ever hear of him.

As far as the depth chart goes, things are still cloudy, but this narrows down the return battle a bit. James Rodgers has less competition now to make that spot, but he has plenty of work left to do to make the cut. Franks and HD are likely the frontrunners regardless.

At this point 10 receivers remain on the Falcons depth chart. Better prepare yourself for a few more stories along these lines.

What do you think of Pearcy's departure?
