The Atlanta Falcons have a proud history of scrimmaging other teams come summertime. I like to think it helps the team to practice outside of their comfort zone a little bit.
This year, a new team is coming to town, after the Falcons stuck with the Patriots and Jaguars in previous years. That would be the Tennessee Titans, a team fresh off a disappointing year who nonetheless have a ton of talent and a true quarterback controversy. You can't say it won't be interesting to scrimmage them.
More importantly, this gives the team a chance to test themselves before the pre-season even starts by matching them up against another NFL team. Practice does you a hell of a lot of good in general, but it's even better to pit yourself against an unfamiliar opponent.
I know this is a few days late, but I thought you'd be interested in discussing it. What say you?
