Today's been a petty lazy day, and I figured I'd share with y'all the story of my fanhood, cause it's actually pretty ironic.
Well, I honestly knew nothing about football as a kid. I grew up playing hockey and baseball, and had no vested interest really in football. My first encounter was when my grand father bought me a Carolina Panthers
uniform set from K-Mart. I lived in Augusta, which is about 20-30 minutes away from South Carolina, so everything was Panthers. So while it wasn't really a fan hood, I guess I would've had to have picked the Pathers as my team. Then I moved about 30 minutes north of Atlanta around age 8, but still did not care aout football.
Around 2003 or so, I started playing Madden a god bit, so this got me more into it. I can't remember why, but I had this crazy obssesion with the Bucs. I went online and got my dad to order me a giant inflateable Bucs chair, I had 2 Sapp jeresys, and a huge poster in my room. I can honestly say, I never watched another Bucs game after they won the super bowl that year. I still to this day don't know where the obssesion came from.
The best part of the story...I was once again back to not caring at for college, or pro football. The only attention I paid it was through Madden. Then, this dude named Reggie Bush
came along, and he was really the only thing that kept me interested in football. He obviously got drafted by the Saints
who, with that pick, became my new favorite team. Now, I wasn't a "fan" of any of these teams, they were more of just an option to root for. I started watching a falcons game here and there in 2007, but it never really got to me when they lost. Then, I happened to stumble uon the 08 Bears
game at the very end, and from then on, I was hooked. I havent missed a minute of any game since then.
So, before I was ever a Falcons
fan, I was a Panthers, Bucs, and Saints fan. what are the chances?
