Asante Samuel Making Positive Impressions Early

Stay connected for news and updates

It's no wonder Asante is such a good DB. He's Stretch Armstrong.

I won't lie, I was initially a little hesitant to declare happy days when we acquired Asante Samuel. Perhaps it was because he was just always an Eagle (AND I HATE THEM) but I knew he was a pretty good player and, for the price, it was certainly a risk worth taking.

Well, he's already positively impacting the coaches. Take a look at this. Samuel's first OTA as a Falcon and nobody wanted to throw at him! So he decided he'd try and poke at the QBs to throw his way, and eventually asked Dimitroff to tell them to throw at him, which I found to be hilarious.

He then proceeded to pick off two passes, one from JPW and one from Matty, and then ran off to do what he called the "G-Stance", which I'm sure is something interesting.

Needless to say, he's provided some energy and a little bit of an attitude that I think the defense has been lacking in the current regime. Asante certainly brings some of that swagger to Atlanta and he's already received some positive remarks from Smitty. He also thinks Mike Nolan is awesome, which is certainly a good thing.

Seriously, he and Grimes on the outside should make QBs cry. I am so excited for football this fall.
