After getting a look at them over the weekend, the Falcons are signing their rookie draft class like crazy.
The team announced the signings of fullback Bradie Ewing, safety Charles Mitchell and defensive tackle Travian Robertson to four-year contracts today. That follows on the heels of the team signing Peter Konz earlier today, so this draft class is falling into place rapidly.
Quick thoughts on each, for those who have been hibernating over the last month:
- Bradie Ewing has all the tools necessary to be an excellent fullback. He's the easy favorite to be the starter there this season, so it'll be worth monitoring how he fares.
- Charles Mitchell is an intriguing safety prospect with great tackling ability. In year one, he's nothing more than a backup, but he could be a key special teams player.
- Travian Robertson is an interesting project. He's got quality size but needs coaching. How quickly he progresses will determine whether he ends up on the final roster or the practice squad.
Only Jonathan Massaquoi and Lamar Holmes remain unsigned, and that could be remedied as soon as later tonight or tomorrow morning. Stay tuned and weigh in on the signings.
