The first Falcon rookie to sign was also the first Falcon rookie off the board this April.
Peter Konz has been inked to a four year deal, but the terms have no yet been disclosed, as D. Orlando Ledbetter notes. Konz is expected to compete for the right guard job this season and eventually move to center to take over for Todd McClure, who is only signed through this season.
Obviously, it's good to have him officially signed. Konz will need to be practicing early and often to stand a chance at beating out the glut of guard options the Falcons currently have on the roster, even though he's unquestionably the early favorite. The earlier he can get familiar with his fellow Falcons linemen, too, the better.
He likely won't cost the Falcons a ton, and if he's a year one starter, that's excellent value for the Falcons. Let's hope his first four years in Atlanta are mighty productive, and that he follows those with a lot more.
