After reading the news that the Falcons brass has restructured Dunta's contract, and continues to show signs that the 5-0 isn't in the future plans (working out Lofa Tatupu, drafting Akeem Dent in the 3rd last year,) it suddenly dawned on me the Falcons will have a lot of free cap space this offseason. I listened to TD's combine interview and he was adamant that the Falcons are expecting big changes not only on the coaching side of the team, but the player side as well. Seeing as the Falcons had a pretty decent amount of cap space before Dunta's revision, it left me wondering why TD was fiddling around with contracts just to free up a couple million. It seems as if we are gathering all of our ammo to take a shot on a BIG free agent. Suddenly becoming a big player for Super Mario is suddenly no longer just a wet dream, but a beautiful pair of jugs staring us in the face. And suddenly I'm starting to think those jugs might be worth the investment, because anyone that is a real Falcons fan can agree Julio will be WELLLLL worth what we gave up. While Super Mario has been injured lately, there is no question when healthy he is one of the most dominant players at the DE/OLB position. He is on the right side of thirty and could answer our pass rush questions for years. He instantly makes our defense better, and isn't just a rotational player like The Predator. The big downside is that he would fill up our cap for years to come and big splurges have been known not to work out for us recently. The LT free agent class isn't particularly strong, and I'm not a huge fan of paying OG such as Nicks big money, so my question is would you rather tie up Super Mario or use the cap space to fill other spots such as LT, G, or a lower tier DE. Regardless of what you wanna do, you can't help but be excited to see what the Falcons are going to do!
How do you want the Falcons to fill the cap space now that they are making it apparent the have big plans?
