So I am reading my morning info and I see the Aint's are embroiled in a scandal. Bounty pools are illegal in the NFL. Do they happen? Yes they happen. But if you get caught doing it then Roger GODell gets involved. Fines and suspensions to follow. So lets jump and see what this is about.
New Orleans Saints players and at least one assistant coach, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, maintained a bounty pool of up to $50,000 the last three seasons, the NFL said Friday. Payoffs came for inflicting game-ending injuries.
Among the targets were Brett Favre and Kurt Warner, with “knockouts” worth $1,500 and “cart-offs” $1,000. Payments doubled or tripled for the playoffs, and, according to an investigation by NFL security, pool amounts reached their height in 2009—the year the Saints won the Super Bowl."
This is a comment from a Yahoo Sports nation post.
My thoughts on this are 1st $1500? I bet it is more than that at Auburn.
2nd. How does anyone participating in an illegal activity of this nature not KNOW to keep their mouth shut?
3rd We all know it happens, It happens in Freshman high school ball all the way to the NFL so should we be surprised?
What is Roger going to do about this.? I can't think of a PWNO rule or anything. Just a playing against NO rule.
If Katrina rules goes with this one too, I want someone to replace the commish.
