John Abraham Will Retire A Falcon

Stay connected for news and updates

Abe says, "Have peace Falcons fans. I'm back."

Just saw the news on Twitter. The Falcons have resigned John Abraham to a 3 year deal that will likely allow him to play his final snaps with the Birds. Haven't seen any money figures yet, but I'll keep an eye on it.

This is great news. Abe's getting up there in age but he's shown he can still be effective as a pass rusher. I'm not the biggest fan of the 3 year part but we'll have to make do.

He'll be a nice complement to Biermann and Edwards and he figures to not have to drop back in pass coverage as much this year, which should keep him fresher and allow him to do what he does best - assault QBs. It also provides somewhat of a stopgap until we can get a DE in free agency in the next year or two.

It's funny that Abe might be our first real big signing, but hey, it's at least something. Oh, and Marcus McNeill is visiting us in the near future.
