Super Bowl coverage is annoying, especially when your team isn't playing. Commentators exhaust every story line, the players try to pretend they're not nervous, et cetera.
Local news station 11Alive interviewed some members of the 1998 team. Here is a link to the video.
Jamal Anderson had this to say:
"One thing that was so special about our football team is that we were genuinely, tremendously close. We were a very close group. And what we accomplished, we'll never forget [it]."
Chuck Smith had this to say:
"I think it just shows [what a] special team we had in the Atlanta Falcons' football history. And I think it shows the comradery. Also I think part of the challenge is [that] you have to believe in the process. That's the era we were in. You gotta believe in the process."
While they didn't directly compare themselves to the current team, the differences are clear. Don't get me wrong, we're not that far off, but I'm not sure that level of buy-in and comradery has materialized just yet.
