Making the Case for Mike Mularkey

Awwwww yeah. I went there. And I'll be going there.

Against all grain of humanity, I, Caleb Rutherford, will be making the case for Mike Mularkey, offensive coordinator for our own Atlanta Falcons.

Take the jump, and we'll make it happen.

Star-divide

And now, behold, the case for Mike Mularkey!

Suitcase2_medium

via 1.bp.blogspot.com

....to put all his stuff in.

AND GET OUT.

That is the case for Mike Mularkey.

and that is all.

My recap comes later this evening, fellow Falcoholics. Have a good day.

I was so scared when I read the title

And you made me laugh, I think it’s your best article Caleb

That was fantastic

I was ready to hop in here and say I’d be writing a rebuttal in the morning…but I guess it’s just a buttal now.

Wow

I saw his picture pop up and his name, I thought I was going to be reading an article that said he was fired. Then I read the whole headline.

Got me all excited for nothing.

by pierre02 on Jan 9, 2012 1:49 PM EST reply actions

Well..

It simple we don’t have the line to run his power scheme… Time to bring in a O.C. that will utilize the weapons… maybe if Mularkey wasnt so focused on a head coach job he would of created a gameplan instead of laying an egg

so please… GET OUT OF TOWN

by ColossalChicken on Jan 9, 2012 1:58 PM EST reply actions

Hard to see that

But given the regular season, it wouldn’t take much of a distraction

I think MM

is as good as gone, even the players feel like he’s handicapping this team. Here’s an article, the stuff is said towards the end, but still a good read.

Dude you could see it on their faces during the game

Look at Turner’s face after that 2nd fail 4th down when he was on the SIDELINES! Then the faces on the Falcons offensive personnel on the sidelines during the last quarter. They are done playing for Mularkey. You can see it in their eyes.

by dr3dd1ne on Jan 9, 2012 2:29 PM EST up reply actions

Roddy looks to be done with MM
"We talked about trying to establish the running game because we didn’t think we could pass protect," said Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who was limited to five catches for 52 yards with a long of only 21 yards. "We played right into their hands. I mean, if they sack us every down and we can’t move the ball, OK. But let’s try."

“White’s remarks echo private comments of several other players who have pointed at a disconnection who offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey’s approach. Numerous players believe Mularkey is too conservative, particularly in tense situations like the playoffs.

He should have brought it up behind closed doors during the season… Its obvious he felt this way for some time I would think.

by nyfinest314 on Jan 9, 2012 7:12 PM EST up reply actions

He might fit miami a lot better.

They should have a decent ground attack with Reggie Bush and whoever else they got.
A decent solid defense should fit mularkey’s system well.

If this OC

is not outta here by Friday of this week, I’ll lead an Occupy Flowery Branch movement.
C’mon Caleb. The new NFL has passed him by. Success is now gauged by how well you can score and rack up points. Ball control football is DEAD. With the drafting of JJ, Dimitroff gets it, I think. But it’s gonna be a while before we’re re-tooled to play the kind of ball the Saints play. Mularkey is the football equivalent of the Polish cavalry in WW II.

If you were directly above him, how could you see him? Because I was inverted. [Bullshit] No, he was man. It was a really great move. He was inverted.

by nyfinest314 on Jan 9, 2012 7:21 PM EST up reply actions

Honestly he's not the problem...

Yes our defense had problems getting off the field on 3rd down, but look at the talent he had to work with. Great LBs, one good passrusher, a couple of good DTs, Grimes, and Moore. Other than that we have 4 huge holes in coverage and a flop of a DE opposite Abraham. He kept us in games with smoke and mirrors honestly. Wish you well BVG!

Who would hire MM after Sundays play calling? I do not think any team hunting a coach to win will be looking at him.

by calfroper on Jan 9, 2012 3:34 PM EST reply actions

4th & 1

I figured you guys would have learned your lesson after failing to get a first down on 4th & 1 situations after the overtime game against the Saints. Obviously Mike Smith didn’t learn his lesson. 5 draft picks for Julio Jones and all you get for that is a pulled hamstring. In a league with the Packers, and in a division with the Saints putting up massive amounts of points, you guys draft a receiver. Don’t let the fact you play the most explosive offense twice a year deter you. Go out and get a receiver. Don’t worry about getting defense. I love and revel in the fact that the Falcons under Mike Smith are 0-3 in the playoffs. You guys are going to complain about the score being ran up on you but you run up the score on Tampa and Jacksonville. Who dat?!

I know...I know...

I have a laundry list of problems with LSU and Saints fans that goes waaaaaay back….they’ve never dissapointed Caleb. Sorry but it’s the truth. I was just being chippy to get the point across. I don’t REALLY wish he was ex post facto….Is it wrong to lie? :D

by dr3dd1ne on Jan 9, 2012 4:10 PM EST up reply actions

I do however

Wish for Alabama…to pound LSU into the grass this evening on National Television. I also hope that SF (and trust me I hates me some SF from the days we had to watch them due to blackout policy) equally pounds the Saints. Ah yes…then to NOT troll the Saints boards but here the steaming pot of gumbo froth from afar.

Exactly

Falcons fans = class
Saints fans = remove the “cl”

by dr3dd1ne on Jan 9, 2012 4:58 PM EST up reply actions

LSU lost!

That’s a good beginning to the week. Now for the Saints to get beat for a great end of the week. Then maybe we’ll have less trolls.

by dr3dd1ne on Jan 9, 2012 11:51 PM EST up reply actions

Copycats

I feel like after watching the saints convert on 3/3 4th downs and destroying the lions, MS decided to copy them. Except for the fact that the Saints were creative on their 4ths (The drew brees leap/extend was pretty new) and we just QB sneaked blatantly.

By the way

Julio had better YAC per catch than Victor Cruz, the man who blew up just about every NYG single season receiving record this year, as well as a similar per-catch average. Yeah, Julio was hurt for a little while, but nobody here thinks it wasn’t worth it.

Don’t talk trash without getting the facts. Julio’s twice the receiver anyone the Saints have.

Good luck against San Fran. I hear hurricanes don’t strike out on the west coast.

Time for a change.

I really tried to defend MM over the past few years, but I can’t do it anymore. The offense is stagnant and unable to adjust when things go south. I mean heck, Matt Ryan in the no-huddle did a better job calling plays than Mularkey did. It’s time to shake things up.

Rise up, the theme song.huh!

It was more like ,the old commercial with the old lady ,I’ve fallen and I cant get up. I cant believe management set back all this time ,and let this happen to this team, and more than anything the great fan base that we have. Definitely unacceptable,no doubt about,it has come time now for them to get their heads out of their asses and bring this city a winner. We should not have to settle for anything less. Whatever they have to do to make it happen, make it happen. Start paying for quality players, and free agents, don’t skimp, and cheat your fans like you have been doing. We certainly don’t deserve what we have been receiving,we deserve a championship,“Arthur Blank”.

that BVG is heading to a college DC job and Mularkey is actually considered for head coaching jobs. I thought BVG did a better job than MM. I can’t imagine that MM is being seriously considered after laying an offensive goose egg in the playoffs.
