I personally believe that Mike Smith either needs to get rid of his "old school" Offensive and Defensive coordinators or the Front office office needs to get rid of Mike Smith and find someone that will.
Brian Van Gorder: During the regular season he usually fares pretty well rankings wise but in the post season our Defense ALWAYS gets EXPOSED. Brian runs too much of an "old school" style of defense meaning that when playing against our beloved Falcon's D, opponents know that what you see is what you get, we play entirely too much base coverages, we're not blitzing enough, and we rarely mix up the coverages such as a Zone cover 3 weak side overload blitz, etc.
Mike Mularkey: Another "old school" type coordinator that is too basic, scared, or intelligent (whatever it may be) to understand that we have too much talent to just waist like this. Hes not that good at adjusting his offense to beat the opponent at hand that week. STUBBORN! He doesn't encourage taking chances on deep explosive passing plays, tosses, WR slot runs from shot gun, etc.
Basically what i'm saying is our coordinators are too stubborn, set in their ways, and doesn't understand that you HAVE to attack your opponent, not throw the same old same old out there and "hope" it works. If you look at NO, GB, DET, NYG, NE, they all ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK! ON O AND D!
New coordinators PLEASE!
