I had a dream where I was trapped in a dark room with Olivia Wilde
Would have traded that for the Falcons to NOT look inept today.
Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.

kicking game
is there any particualr reason we haven’t kick a FG when in position
so the score can be 8 to 24
I love my city, I love my Braves, I love my Falcons, and like a 17 year old delinquent stepchild I wont kick the Hawks out.
they wanted TD's but couldn't even get a first.

if the first thing
i hear in the morning is that MM has been fired i might put my life savings on the Falcons to win the SB next year. Just saying…
Oh well
Maybe we’ll address some of our problems this postseason, but maybe we won’t. Such a bitter taste this year. Horribly called game on the offensive side. I pray they just fire mularkey, rather than just allow him to walk off unscathed.

Is firings and getting rid of underperforming players. It is. Mularkey must go, at minimum.
The Falcons aren’t so far away that they should be playing like this. The fact that they are is fargin horrible.

Offensive Coordinator
Well hopefully MM gets that head coaching job, no excuse for 0 offensive points…..FUCK!!!
Matt Ryan
Please tell me this is MM’s fault. I have zero faith in him right now, otherwise.

He was pretty terrible
but he is too good and too young to give up. Mularkey wore out his welcome a while ago
How About The Turd We Are Laying?
Looks like another GREAT Falcons flop in the playoffs………what is it gonna take to get these coaches shit together and figure out that when you have a 4th and 1 and about 20 yards out, either play-action or just kick the damned Field Goal. I hope Mularkey does leave and I hope that BVG gets his pink slip in the locker room after the game bc this is one of the worst performances I’ve seen in a long time. At least we scored points last year against the Packers on offense.
BTW- Robinson, when you have MAN-2-MAN Coverage, that means that the man you are covering is not supposed to run for a 72yd TD catch after you are caught napping!!!
BE
glad you don’t have to hear about the giants for the rest of the way in NJ. of all teams

Giants get first win at home in playoffs.
Saints break records
Bucs get first KO return for touchdown.

Offseason needs
1) Offensive coordinator/playcaller
2) Long term answer at Left Tackle
3) A right guard
4) DT help
5) Linebacker depth
Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.

You have to wonder if Mike Smith is going to be the coach much longer. Ultimately it all rolls up to him, and to get humiliated like this 2 years in a row… I mean you can’t exempt the head coach.

not sure that mentioning Katrina Rules
is all that offensive….
I’m not sure what your point is? Brees should have been hit when he was throwing down the field late with a big lead, that’s one of the main reasons why teams usually go into running out the clock mode in those situations.

But we have been embarrassed the worst ALLYEAR.

All of our playmakers on offense have blown it. Roddy, Ryan, Turner….all of them should be ashamed of themselves.

Honestly, this sums up the season IMO
We have some “bad wins” if you will, and we didn’t pull through when we needed to. Maybe it’s me, but I feel like this team is immature. DB’s celebrating after breaking up passes when down by multiple touchdowns. Rowdy White doing the usual. I just don’t understand. We have the talent, but it’s just not working. Ever since the loss last year against the Packers, Matty hasn’t been the same and this team hasn’t been the same. It just makes me sad.

I love Julio and think he will be a star....
But TD missed the boat. He has also missed the boat on Edwards and Robinson.
That trade up will hurt us next year.
That was my point. And the Saints did a similar thing in 2007, after they went to the NFCCG in 2006.
Thought they were only one player away. It cost us two years of non-winning seasons to correct that mistake.

This team has no guts
They have taken on the personality of the head coach. A nice guy that is overly professional, curteous, conservative.
I am beginning to think Smitty is not the answer.
The offense is a joke. The defense can’t play 4 quarters. We are talented and highly under utilized. We have no fire, and Smith just looks lost in these big games.
Our team has looked overmatched ever time we face a good team.
Time for a change to take us to the next level.

What was wrong with the DC? If the offense helps them out, they’re in great shape. You can’t go 3 and out over and over and expect the defense to continue to stop them. That’s silly.

yes
but my comment was about what’s wrong with the DC.
That’s what’s wrong with the DC
nj has it right
Look at what we did to them through much of the game. We should be able to win this kinda game with the offense parts we have in place.
The offense going 3 and out over and over puts SOOOOOOOOOO much pressure on the offense. Now, I’m a huge fan of man up, 3-4 style defense but we don’t even have the plays for that. That’d take years to get. We got to work with what we got.
BV called a good game for the majority of the game.
by Stephen Young on Jan 8, 2012 3:54 PM EST up reply actions
Majority of this game, yes.
but looking at the body of work, the Falcons have had identical problems the last 4 years.
Where’s the pass rush? Where’s the turnovers, where’s the everything?
We’ve sold so much of multiple drafts to get better defensive players, brought in big $$$ free agents to address specific issues, but it’s still the same thing
no good! comeback time!!!!
Braves.
Falcons.
Gamecocks.
It's only a 22 point game guys, we got this!

That's how MM calls his plays. Depending on where he shoots determines the play called.
See, MM has a Twister mat in the play booth with different plays written on each space. He jacks off on to it and that’s how he picks his plays. Problem is, he always tries to squirt on right hand green on 1st & 2nd downs.
I'm pretty curious to see what happens
with Smith, the media is gonna be bashing him big time

I am. Most conservative calls on 4th down and the Giants knew it. They totally sold out on the run.
comparision here between the falcons and hawks
is that the hawks atleast under Mike Woodson advanced every year from that prudrid 13 win season to the simi finales in the playoffs. This team IMHO has maxed it potential under the current schemes.
And they were 2 Wins away last year from the Eastern Conference Finals

Who can we get to run the offense??
I don’t even know who’s out there
agreed.. Does this feel good?
Do we want to feel like this every year? And as much as we love football, having to tune in to sport shows reminding us how pathetic our team is. This hurts and it only sickens me to be unable to watch football bcuz your team died on the field..SHHYYYT!!!

That's our falcons
Now it’s time for the Hawks to lose like they did to miami last week, and the Braves to leave the bases loaded, every inning

Can't genuinly wish anything positive for Tebow
but go Broncos, just because at least one Falcon fan deserves something today.

I would
The Falcons are so conservative
Is Rankin Smith still the owner?
whelp,
it’s been a season, that’s for sure. I’ve enjoyed my tears, fights, anger, happiness, every type of emotion that I think only we have been able to muster as a franchise, and I’ll see you in a while. Happy New Year, Happy Spring, and enjoy the rest of the playoffs

you deserve better.
Bummer for Tony G
and a ton of Atlanta fans and all the coaches and players
He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
After the Packers game, I didn't think football for months
I didn’t watch any more playoffs, skipped the superbowl, all of that. Got a sneaking feeling I’ll be doing the same. Fuck this team. Fuck 5am. Fuck MM. Seriously, I am done with this, wake me up in September when we might actually score some points.

we can rebuild and make a run my great great grandchildren will be ecstatic
There might be
but we have all of 4 picks or something in it.

Falcons in 2013!!!!!
Superbowl in NewYork!!!
I Really hope we fire Mularkey
Just letting him leave for another job without being fired isn’t enough
24-2???
Who would have guessed that the only points that the Falcons would score today would be off of a damned Safety? Really? Traded away our entire draft for Julio Jones….Roddy White led the NFC in catches, Turner racked up tons of yards this year, and all the Falcons can do is muster up 2 points in this years playoffs……..This rests solely on the Coordinators who I have been SCREAMING ALL YEAR to get rid of. Maybe this is the Fork in the proverbial STEAK!!!!
why
why is it that when we have the chance to be seen nation wide, we absolutely have a train wreak of the week in proformances. I’m offically starting a petition to change the RISE UP slogan to SHOW UP!!!!
I went to type outplayed
on my phone, it auto corrected to our coaches

Facts:
Atlanta fans are happy with settling. “Well we had a winning season, so Smitty is doing something right.”
Awful mentality.
"NLDS or bust" - Bobby Cox
arent most fans like that anyways. after being losers for a long time
i mean go over to the Lions blog everyone is happy they even made the playoffs.
I’d like to see a Defensive Coordinator in the realms of a Dom Capers or Dick Lebeau who know how to wreak havoc on opposing QBs and Offensive Lines…..How long do you honestly think Abraham has left in his caeer? We need D-Line help, and we need it now!!!! And I would also like to petition that playing Zone Coverage is the worst idea in this Pass Happy League…..Zones are for busting!!!!
How about cut junta and edwards and go after mario williams?

defense played worlds better than the offense
Braves.
Falcons.
Gamecocks.
Today, yes.
what about the year as a whole? What about the past 4 years? All I’ve seen from the same exact struggles. Struggling to generate pressure, people passing all over it, struggling to put teams away on 3rd down. Get a lead? Give up points!
the usual 15 yards deep open receiver…
One game does not take away from the same issues game after game after game
I want to know
how much is BVG and how much is Mike Smith
The real problem isn't coordinators or playcalling, its Matt Ryan.
You need someone with some fire, who can put the team on his back at crunch time and lead them. Ryan can’t. He’ll always put up numbers, but he can’t handle pressure.
i disagree to an extent
Eli Manning doesn’t have fire himself
Manning benefits from his name and upbringing
And I wasn’t really referring to a yelling, screaming fire, as much as an internal fire. Some players have it, some don’t.
Matt Ryan is like 5 years older
Give Matt some time, took a lot of good players a long time before they really did something
Go away Robert. Go away all Saints fans!

Ryan played scared today
so I’m not defending him. But he’s been a warrior for us in some big moments. Just never big moments that really counted for anything.
by VenomySnicket on Jan 8, 2012 4:07 PM EST up reply actions
WRONG!!!!
The problem is the offensive play schemes which are predictable and boring…..Where was Jacquiz today, how about Gonzales…..did you see any big plays down the field??? That is called play calling my friend and our Coordinators just don’t get it!!!!
Cant wait to read postgame
Angry Stat whoring fans playing ‘holier than thou’ + Pissed, drunk fans = recipe for friendly fire disaster.

If this is what it took to clean house
Then I’ll be happy. If not, expect more of the same next season.

MM better hope he gets another job, cuz I think he lost his today with the falcons!!
Now Gentlemen, get your butts up, and get back on that horse! You have no choice. The expectations are running much higher this year.
or at least I hope to hell he's gone now!! please AB and TD get rid of MM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MM won't be fired

If not then I wont watch anymore falcons games until they win in the playoffs
seriously man. This is getting just to old and too hard to handle year in and year out!
Now Gentlemen, get your butts up, and get back on that horse! You have no choice. The expectations are running much higher this year.
why would you say that?
……..there’s no way to justify that statement, UNLESS Turner and at least 2 offensive linemen are released tomorrow

Now Gentlemen, get your butts up, and get back on that horse! You have no choice. The expectations are running much higher this year.
Real simlle
It’s a weak offensive line. It is the whole problem. Ryan gets happy feet and we go to hell. Turner can’t get holes and WR routes need time for strikes!
Offensive line!!!!!!!!!!!

before the game
I was saying to myself (and I even wrote in one of the threads) that if we do indeed lose, I hope we lose in a blowout. it would be easier to endure a loss like that and not a nail-biting finish when everybody then questions every call.
I still thought we’d win this one though.
Atlanta Falcons fan in Moscow, Russia
I feel the opposite. Give me the nail biter.
This loss was more pathetic than last years.
the reasoning here
is that a nail-biting finish (and a loss) can save the jobs of MM and/or BVG. with a finish like this, that should should not be the case.
In addition, a close loss makes you question every single call and play. and a complete destructions leaves no room for that but for a total clean-up.
Atlanta Falcons fan in Moscow, Russia
I understand that
MM may be gone anyway. They need a philly dream team style free agency pick ups or its gonna be a few more years.
It is gonna be a few hours before I can be rational about this. I just reminded myself I didnt expect a superbowl win
It will be a dream come true...
if tomorrow I read that Mike Smith was fired along with Dimitroff. This coaching staff is inept at play calling, scheming, and knowing what to do with the talent on this roster. This team is too talented to be this pathetic against good teams. It’s one thing to lose, but to be embarrassed time and time again means something’s gotta change. This coaching staff has consistently been outcoached. …And Dimitroff mortgaging the farm to get one player is ridiculous. I am a fan of JJ, but we needed help all around, not just at the WR position.
Ughhhh
ironic
we had been saying here the key to winning would be to play mistake free- no turnovers and few penalties. we had no TOs (except on downs) and had only 15 yds in penalties (compared to the jints 73). and still lost.

1st Post!
sad my first post has to come on such a disappointing day. :(
I just wanted to say that I’ve noticed when Matt Ryan is under pressure, instead of standing tall in the pocket and somehow miraculously avoiding the sack (Like Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady. etc) he immediately flees (some would call it rolling out) to his right, and more often than not throws the ball away. He’’s a good QB, but not great yet.
Brees and Rodger often make something out of a play like that
I kept saying that to my dad during this game. Ryan dumps it off play over
everyone talks about
the way that MM has brought MR along as a young QB,if you remember 4 years back all we heard about was how MR was such a good game manager but not a great QB yet because he was being brought along slowly and not giving games away by mistakes, well this is the result of MM bringing a QB along, anytime you feel any pressure roll out and throw the ball OB. MR has been programmed to throw sideline patterns where if there is any doubt just overthrow the pass and it will be incomplete OB. The only problem with this thinking is that even if the pass is complete your receiver is trapped against the sideline and have a very low YAC.
There is still some potential there
I wont discount the cant get it done in the post season criticism now though
