Bengals-Texans Playoff Open Thread

CINCINNATI, OH - DECEMBER 11: Jerome Simpson #89 of the Cincinnati Bengals hauls in a pass against Kareem Jackson #24 of the Houston Texans during their game at Paul Brown Stadium on December 11, 2011 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Texans defeated the Bengals 20-19. (Photo by John Grieshop/Getty Images)

The playoffs begin in an hour.

This is your catch-all thread for the Bengals-Texans matchup, which ought to be an interesting one. The Bengals have a tough defense and A.J. Green, while the Texans will bring Arian Foster and Ben Tate to bear, as well as a tough defense of their own. It may be the lowest-scoring game of the entire first round.

Enjoy the game, everyone. The one you really care about is just a few hours away.

i'll take da bengals

I think da bengals will win because yates wil make a few mistakes. I know da Texa.ns will depend heavily on there great run game

The Bengals have a rookie QB too.

Granted, he has been playing well this year. So, I think you are basically right. Whichever rookie QB makes the least mistakes should win.

Gotta pick the Texans

I know we didn’t play the best game in Houston, but their defense is legit.
Jonathan Joseph was probably the most underrated signing of the offseason.

Defense + Foster wins it.

ahh, ok.

yeah, with the northeast in particular, weather forecasts are rarely accurate, especially for more than a day in advance.

and to be fair, there is a trend among dome playoff teams that have to play outside, though from what I saw on that horrendous channel this morning, there was something about the turf used used to be different or something weird like that.

by falconnuke on Jan 7, 2012 5:31 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah lived in N.E.

but dome teams are said to be mostly passing teams and you have to run the rock to win. We’re a running team.

by FrozenFinger on Jan 7, 2012 5:33 PM EST up reply actions

NFL's a passing league, though

it’s at the point where statistics over more than the last 3 years are meaningless. I mean, look at the season passing yards record.

by falconnuke on Jan 7, 2012 5:36 PM EST up reply actions

Not arguing that it's a passing league

but arguing that the Falcons among any dome team should be looked upon as a team that can grind it out.

A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

by FrozenFinger on Jan 7, 2012 5:37 PM EST up reply actions

the Falcons are, and will be until they win a Superbowl

looked upon as a ’soft" dome team. Or a team full of dirty players. Or a team that wins an OT game because a kicker shanked a 23 yard field goal.

Or if they admit that Atlanta can grind it out, there will be some comment about how Atlanta isn’t explosive on offense or something like that.

by falconnuke on Jan 7, 2012 5:39 PM EST up reply actions

I think they use it because none of them

actually watch Atlanta games and we don’t have the “mega-star” type of guy that they know and exchange cellphone numbers with. So they resort to stereotypes
