Okay
Team MVP
- Matt Ryan. 61.3% completion. 29 TDs. 12 INTs. 4,177 yards. 7.4 YPA. Sure, he came up short a lot, but without him out there, we’re a 6 or 7 win team.
Offensive Player
- Matt Ryan. Ditto.
Defensive Player
- Curtis Lofton. Wanted to go with Spoon here, but Curtis had 147 tackles, 1 sack, 9 passes defensed, 2 interceptions, 1 touchdown, a forced fumble and a fumble return. Our disappointing defense is a lot more disappointing without him out there leading the squad.
Special Teams Player
- Matt Bryant. First in the league for FG percentage (over 20 attempts). The most consistent guy on an inconsistent team.
Worst Player
- On offense, Sam Baker. Gets demoted from left tackle, and then sucks at guard when given the chance.
- On defense, Peria Jerry. Just a waste of a roster spot and 1st round pick at this point.
Best Game
- Week 14, the comeback game against Carolina.
Worst Game
- Week 16, the debacle in New Orleans.
Best Play
- Chris Owens running down Percy Harvin in the Vikings game.
Worst Play
- Ugh. Michael Turner stuffed at the line in OT against the Saints in Week 10.
Enduring Image

Worst Game – Bears

Worst Play – Pretty much any 4th down attempt
Enduring Image
and away we Go!
Team MVP- Sean Weatherspoon! Spoon proved to be an elite LB this year. After a rough game against the Bears, he certainly put things together to be a dominate force in the Defense.
Offensive Player- Matt Ryan. Matty Ice put together some nice numbers this year breaking a few franchise records. He would get the nod as team MVP if he came up big in big games. Hopefully the new direction of the offense will put him in elite status.
Defensive Player- Spoon. As mentioned above.
Special Teams Player- Matt Bryant. Came up big and was quite reliable when needed.
Worst Player-Peria Jerry. 1st round pick has yet to prove himself on the field. Beginning to resemble JA98
Best Game- The Falcons 1st half against the Bucs.
Worst Game- opening day against the Bears.
Best Play- Snelling run against the Saints.
Worst Play- QB Sneak should be erased from the offense, or Matty Ice should learn how to run one.
Enduring Image- Spoon’s whiff on Forte opening day…yuk!
Coaching wins championships!
Alright...
Team MVP: Sean Weatherspoon (dude showed up and showed out in all 17 games, I can’t name any other player who did that).
Offensive Player: Matt Ryan.
Defensive Player: Sean Weatherspoon.
Special Teams Player: Matt Bosher (he went from zero to eighty in like half a season, I’m glad he’s not a car).
Worst Player: Ray Edwards (I knew he’d be a bad free agent pickup long before we signed him and he did a pretty good job of proving me right).
Best Game: At home versus the Eagles (won 35-31).
Worst Game: Playoff game at the Giants (loss 2-24).
Best Play: Julio’s TD catch between two defenders.
Worst Play: Too many to choose from.
Enduring Image: The scoreboard at 0:00 4th Qtr, in the Giants game.
Here we go...
Team MVP- Sean Weatherspoon. A force on defense that scares every team.
Offensive Player- Michael Turner. Ryan still can’t take over a game and Roddy had too many drops. Turner averaged 4.5 ypc behind a struggling line.
Defensive Player- Curtis Lofton. The leader of the defense and a player all over the field.
Special Teams Player- Matt Bosher. I doubted, he changed my mind.
Worst Player- Sam Baker. Going from starting LT, to backup LT, to sucky backup G.
Best Game- Jacksonville. From start to finish, the most complete game.
Worst Game- Giants. Offense was shutout. Enough said…
Best Play- Julio TD catch vs. Indy
Worst Play- All three of the failed QB sneaks
Enduring Image- Yep, that is our future right there.

Honors and Dishonors
MVP- Matt Ryan. Kman says 6 or 7 win team without him. I’d say we would’ve been lucky to win 4.
Offensive MVP- Matty Ice again. With all the hate in Atlanta, did anyone even notice him break the single season passing record?
Defensive MVP- Sean Weatherspoon. Lofton may have had more tackles, but Spoon always seemed to come up with that big play when we needed it.
Special Teams Player- Matt Bryant. It’s a great thing when you can safely sit back and anticipate that the field goal will be good.
Worst Player- Peria Jerry. Someone called Jerry was on our team? I didn’t notice.
Best Game- The warm welcome we gave Michael Vick when he got knocked out of the game in the dome. How great was it when he was pointing at the scoreboard to the fans with the Eagles up, and then lost? I wanted to go with the Carolina comeback, but that was really just the best half of football
Worst game- Giants…i refuse to say any more
Best Play- Chris Owens chasing down Harvin, and letting the D come up big against the Vikings.
Worst Play(s)- the sheer amount of wide open receivers Drew Brees seemed to hit when they embarassed us on Monday night.
Enduring Image- I’m a huge optimist, but it’s gotta be the 2 points our “new, more explosive offense” mustered against the Giants…and they didnt even score those 2.

Team MVP –
Tha Police. Led the team in tackles, 1 FF, 1 FR, 2 INT and a touchdown to boot. It’d be a shame if he’s not in Atlanta next year.
Offensive Player
Michael Turner. 1,340 yards behind a below average offensive line.
Defensive Player
Lofton
Special Teams Player
Bryant. This one’s the easiest… dude only missed two kicks the entire year.
Worst Player
Thomas DeCoud. Jerry still hasn’t done anything, but DeCoud was the worst starter we had.
Best Game
Well, obviously, Indy. But that’s not a real NFL team. I’m pretty sure LSU could have played them tight this year. I’ll go with the win in Detroit.
Worst Game
uhh… The playoff game where we didn’t score an offensive TD, our coaches lost their minds and we were embarrassed on national televesion for the second time in 3 weeks. Yeah, that one.
Best Play
JJ 75 yard catch and run against the Panthers
Worst Play
Matt getting stuffed on 4th down against the Giants.
You'd think I was Travis Tritt struttin my FINE ASS on down to Florida
This is too much like homework.
I hate homework.

My view:
Team MVP Matt Ryan, he really picked up his game the second half of the season, plus franchise season yardage record is always nice!
Offensive Player Torn between Sam Baker or Matt Ryan, hmmm.
Defensive Player Gotta be Curtis Lofton
Special Teams Player Mr Money Bryant, though next year i wouldn’t be surprised if Bosher took this title.
Worst Player Sam Baker, he should be working as a hotel doorman
Best Game Week 14 against the Panthers, love me a second half comeback win, plus Quizz and a TD reception!
Worst Game Week 16 against the Saints, my first game i saw in America, wearing my Falcons jersey proud, was truly devastating…
Best Play JJ11 first touchdown catch, amazzzzzin
Worst Play JJ11’s fumble against NO, that was our last chance to have our classic 4th comeback drive
Enduring Image No offensive points against the giants
he sure cant work security for a club bc he would let everyone through

Never did this but oh well.
Team MVP – Matt Ryan. Better and better. Breaking Falcons records left and right. All while taking a beating.
Offensive Player – Matt Ryan.
Defensive Player – Weatherspoon. Becoming an absolute monster on the field. Love how some were labeling him a TD “bust” last season when he was hurt.
Special Teams Player – Bosher. Has any player developed so quickly?? The guy was killing it after a few weeks.
Worst Player – Hate calling any professional player the “worst” but given the demotion, I have to vote for Sam Baker.
Best Game – At Panthers. Awesome turn-around after a slow start. Just what we needed to save the season.
Worst Game – At Tampa. Talk about a game we really should have won. Just a dreadful performance against an awful team.
Best Play – Pick one of Julio’s insane catches against NO or IND.
Worst Play – The Matt Ryan “place the ball on the ground” fumble in week 1.
Enduring Image – 4th and 1, 4th and 1, or 4th and 1.

Worst Game – The Giants in the postseason, or in the regular season @ New Orleans
Best Play – Julio getting that TD vs. Indy
Worst Play – The one with Forte in the first game vs. Da Bears (it was a simple screen)
Enduring Image – this epitomizes it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SORs_NqooKQ

Enduring Image: Matt Ryan saying wtf on national TV when we failed on 4th down vs giants
Quite a bit of Home work.
Team MVP : Matt Ryan for taking this 4-6 win team with a crappy O Line and an ineffective running game.
Offensive Player: Julio Jones for leading the team with 8TD and almost a 1000 Yard season in 13 games.
Defensive Player: Spoon, Spoon turned out to be the biggest play maker on defense considering he was a liability last year.
Special Teams Player: Matt Bryant. Honorable mention: Matt Bosher and Weems for ST coverage.
Worst Player: Offense: Sam Baker followed by Tyson Clabo for failing to Protect Ryan in the big games and leading the team in sacks and QB hits given up. Defense: Ray Edwards,Kroy Beirman and James Sanders.
Best Game: Vs Eagles. Beating Eagles for first time in 4 years.
Worst Game: Against the Giants in Playoffs.
Best Play: JJ TD against Colts in Triple coverage
Worst Play: MT 4th down play against the Saints.
It's all about Process...
Woooo lets get me in on this here action
Team MVP: Spoon
Offensive player: Ryan
Defensive player: Spoon
Special Teams: Imma go out there and say Chris Owens, Matt Bryant was without doubt an amazing kicker and so consistent but Owens saved two touchdowns on ST and showed some damn fine speed doing it.
Worst player: Can I give this to the starting Oline for the first few games? If not Sam Baker.
Best game: second game against Carolina, never seen such an aamzing comeback.
worst Game: Giants, no question.
Best play: Julio JOnes pullin in a TD whilst in triple coverage and bouncing on the floor.
worst play; 4th down OT aginst NO.
Enduring image: Owens chasing down Harvin. Gave me faith in the guy again.
Mostly the same as everybody else's except...
Offensive MVP: Todd McClure. It was so noticeable when he wasn’t playing.
Enduring Image: 4th Down failures against NYG
Contradictory, isn’t it?
Gotta join in
MVP: Tie between Matty and Curtis Lofton. Defense was impressive this year.
Offensive: Where would we be without Ryan? I shudder to think
Defensive: Brent Grimes (but Lofton/Spoon are both up there)
Special Teams: Money Bryant is too clutch
Worst Player: Garrett Reynolds, no question. Worse than Baker.
Best Game: Comeback win over Carolina, could’ve rolled over but didn’t
Worst Game: Either Giants or week 3 against the Bucs. Probably Giants.
Best Play: I’ll go Snelling running through the entire Saints D. Julio’s plays were still sick though.
Worst Play: Any fourth and inches play this season

Here we go
Team MVP-Ryan
Offensive Player-Ryan
Defensive Player-Spoon (Abe honorable mention)
Special Teams Player-Bryant
Worst Player-Garrett Reynolds
Best Game-Jacksonville (we haven’t beaten a team like that in so long)
Worst Game-Too many to pick, but 1st Saints game/Giants loss has to be close.
Best Play-Julio catch at Indy (Gonzo’s one-handed toe tapper close second)
Worst Play-See: 4th and short sneaks
Enduring Image-Happy? Turner throwing Weems. Honest? Scoreboard after Giants game.
Alright
Team MVP – Without a doubt, it’s Matt Ryan. When I think of the player whose replacement would give the biggest drop off in production, it’s Matty. Spoon played out of his mind this year, but I think we would still not be as bad off without him as we would be if we were without Matty.
Offensive Player – I don’t really want to give this to Matty (since he’s already MVP I’d rather give it to someone else) but nobody else on the offense really did anything that stood out to me. I’m tempted to give it to Julio, but he’s not quite there yet. Roddy had too many drops for my taste and Turner was meh for me. The OL sucked for the most part. So by default, Matty wins this award.
Defensive Player – This one’s tough, because Lofton and Spoon were both so good together. Lofton made some great plays, but Spoon seemed to make the spotlight plays, and by that I mean he made several open-field plays and also had some sacks. He really stepped up his game this year, so I give this to Spoon with Lofton at a close (and respectable) 2nd.
Special Teams – I have to give this to Matt “Money” Bryant because he was awesome this year, though post-bye week Bosher is a close 2nd for me.
Best Game – JAX. I felt bad for JAX in that one.
Worst Game – The playoff game. There was plenty of bad during the regular season but a zero point offense in the most important game of the season sealed it for me.
Best Play – Gonzo’s super one-handed catch in the endzone was one of the best plays of the season for any team, let alone us. Loved Julio’s TD at Indy, too, but Gonzo takes the cake for me here.
Worst Play – The Matt Ryan sneaks in the playoff game. Dear jeebus.
Enduring Image – The pic that says “I’m Arthur Blank and I don’t give a whoop”

Great post.
I agree with almost everything you said along with your justifications. Two differences:
Best Game – TB (Week 17). I actually felt bad for them. That was until I remembered that Freeman had busted out the Dirty Bird the first time we played them.
Best Play – Okay, so maybe this is favorite play. I loved the Julio TD against the Jags where he caught it on a drag route and then burned into the end zone, splitting two DBs who looked to have great angles on him. To me, Julio’s speed and toughness are his greatest assets, and that play demonstrated game changing speed. I’m excited for his future.

So we had nearly the exact same picks.
My question to you, is who wins your “Worst Player” Award?
This is why Sam baker win's the "Worst year award"

Best Game- Tie for Saints (16) and Giants

Worst Player- Tie between Matty, JJ11, and Gonzo

Hello NFL teams, are you in need of a SB ring. Is your 9-7 or 10-6 team that barely slipped in to playoffs needing some help, well, beat the Falcons and you are guaranteed a SB berth!
I still don't understand how we didn't utilize this guy in the redzone.
Just throw it anywhere in the same zip code, I guarantee he’ll make a play on it. Unless Grimes gets there first.
