Why Dunta Will Benefit from a New D Coordinator
When the Falcons signed Dunta to a huge contract at the end of the 2009 season, Falcons fans felt he was worth every penny. A couple of disappointing seasons later, and the emergence of Optimus Grimes, we have all been left wondering if the Dunta hype was just buzz. While he has at times left receivers and running backs writhing on the ground with his ferocious hits, he has been very suspect in pass coverage. While most of the blame can be attributed to Van Gorder's zone, which he REFUSED to shy away from, there were many signs that Dunta just couldn't adjust to the read and react defense. Thankfully the man in the mustache along with his zone defense, are on the way out of ATL and headed to Auburn(GO DAWGS!). Hopefully this means that Nolan will implement a pass coverage that better suits are much maligned corner and we can finally get a fair assessment of our local head hunter. While I'm sure the zone isn't going to be completely trashed hopefully we can see Dunta in more of a man-to-man coverage scheme, which he thrived in while playing in Houston. That also might benefit Grimes who is consistently in great position when playing man on any receiver. There is a reason that Dimitroff signed him to a huge deal and the GM is the man in the organization that I put most of my trust in. So don't lose hope Falcons faithful. There is something brewing from the shake-up of our coaching staff, and I feel Dunta will be reaping the most benefits.

I think Dunta will improve hugely in a new scheme
This is a big year for him. If he doesn’t step up, the Falcons may cut bait in 2013.

We can hope
If we do see more man coverage next season,it would be after the prerequisite accomplishment of creating far more pressure on QBs without compromising the run defense.
I’m hoping to see it,but there is no magic coverage scheme that can succeed behind a front four pass rush that in any way resembles what we saw this past season.
