49ers-Giants NFC Championship Open Thread

Basically, this is the NFC version of the game you just watched. One team that's mostly offense versus a team that's mostly defense.

Still, I think you could make the reasonable argument that these teams are a little more balanced. The 49ers showed they could hang in with the high-octane Saints last weekend, while the Giants played pretty good defense against both the Packers and Falcons.

I'm actually looking forward to watching this one. Hope you'll join me in tracking all the action and sharing here at The Falcoholic.

one question guys...

Why wasn’t that a touchdown catch my Lee Evans? I thought da play was over when da ball break da plain with posession

by jgreedy on Jan 22, 2012 6:23 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Because as his second foot hit, the ball was knocked out

I think that’s the correct call. He was still “in the act” of making the catch in that situation.

It was a good hold.

He just hooked the kick.

BUT how about Belichick not icing the kicker? BB was very smart in that situation because Cundiff was rushing out to the field to get the kick off, and he rushed the kick because of it.

I can say that there’s no excuse. If the man ahead of you goes down, you have to step up and be ready, even if you have little reps. The backups get reps in practice, so it’s not like he went in totally cold.

Next man up, as they say.

But I feel bad for the guy. The weather was awful and he got the short end of the stick as far as the position he was in. You’ve gotta make that play, though.
