Hello Falcons fans! My name is Will and I'm the unofficial representative of BBV and Giant fans of the interwebz.
I'm sure you were all doing some TV scouting, as Mike Smith called it. As Giant fans, we've been waiting all season for a game like that. Without a doubt, that was our most complete game of the season.
Of course, the Falcons are coming off an even more impressive blowout vs the Buccaneers. If anything, this game should hopefully be a good one. Here are some stats:
This will be the first playoff game between the two teams. The falcons are 1-5 vs NFC East teams in the playoffs, beating the Eagles in their first ever playoff game in 1978 followed by defeat to the Cowboys.
All time, the Giants and Falcons have a 10-10 head to head record. The Falcons won the first two games between the two in 1966 and 1968.
Eli Manning's first start was at the Falcons in 2004, a 14-10 loss. Since then, the Eli and the Giants have won 3 straight, including the last game in 2009 that went into overtime, for a 3-1 record.
Matt Ryan is 0-1 vs the Giants.
Tom Coughlin is 5-1 vs the Falcons, including two wins as the HC of the Jaguars.
The Falcons are 7-2 playing at the Giants, winning in Yankee Stadium, the Yale Bowl, and Giants Stadium. This will be their first game in the
New Giants Stadium Met Life Stadium.
Conversely, the Giants are 8-3 in Atlanta.
The Falcons are 6-10 in the playoffs all time, including a Super Bowl loss.
Their last playoff win was in 2004 over the Rams.
The Falcons are 3-7 in the playoffs on the road and Matt Ryan and Mike Smith are 0-2 in the postseason.
The Giants are 20-24 in the Playoffs all time, including 3 Super Bowl wins and a loss.
The Giants' last playoff wins were the 2007 Super Bowl run. Their last playoff appearance was a loss to the Eagles in 2008.
The Giants are 10-8 in the post season at home. Eli Manning is 4-3 in the playoffs, but 0-2 at home.
