Patriots-Broncos Playoff Open Thread
Less thrilling than Niners-Saints for the average Falcons fan, but still could be a good game.
In one corner, you have the high-powered Patriots offense, led by Tom Brady and the incredible Rob Gronkowski. They pair that offense with one of the worst pass defenses in NFL history, and a run defense that's only marginally better.
In the other corner, Tim Tebow and his weird powers of winning. The Broncos run well and can get after the passer, but on paper this should be a game the Patriots win easily.
Root for who you will.

It is frustrating
The love he gets for how awful he plays the position, but some people hate on him way to much.
Awful or not, he makes all the statheads angry because he defies them.
Because for a while there all he did was win, and wins are the only thing that matters.
People are obsessed with numbers.

No but it's not magic
people who don’t understand the Christian religion don’t understand that God doesn’t perform magic. He won’t snap his fingers and make everything sunshine and rainbows. It doesn’t work that way, which is why even us blessed Americans still have it rough sometimes. That’s the key. You can’t hate on something without an understanding of it, else that makes you an ignorant hater, the worst kind.
But you are right, corrupt bigwigs and horrid governments make things a hell of a lot harder to fix, especially in the poorer countries.

Depends on what happens on draft day, though
Sometimes the second best center is only the 60th best talent, or so. This draft looks really stocked with defensive players. Probably going to see a ton of CBs and DEs go in the first round.
Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.
by Bronn on Sep 18, 2011 4:26 PM EDT
Haven't followed to closely
But from what I’ve seen of Miller he is great and very very fast. Glenn is going first round I think
Hmmm
For a Falcons roster that doesn’t have a ton of holes, I have a very long wishlist. Need to try to improve our pass rush, maybe up the middle. Fletcher Cox is another guy I like, but he’s probably a first rounder too.
Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.

Part of the reason those teams allow the most pass yards in the game is because those teams get up early and score a ton of points. If you look at adjusted ranks, teams like New England and Green Bay aren’t great, but they’re not the worst in the league.

But I can’t imagine that Denver doesn’t bring in a quality veteran to challenge him next year. He either has to show insanely improved passing skills in training camp, or he is going to be replaced.
which is sad
because Denver stuck with Elway for years before he finally delivered. Loyalty in sports isn’t what it used to be.

Thing is
Every player on their roster knows that if they get down by 3 scores, they simply can’t catch up.
Perhaps
but there aren’t many teams that can come back from that deficit, including our own Falcons.
17 is much easier to overcome than 21, but my case stands.

Did you think Alex Smith could have taken a knee at the 1 instead of taking it in for the TD? Probably could have run out a large part of the remaining clock and still have a chance to score the TD. Oh well, one of those plays that are extremely hard to do. Incredibly, it didn’t matter lol

You gotta take the points
So many things can go wrong if you don’t
FG was still on the table if not the TD, with the possibility of running out the clock to about :30 if the 3 running plays at the goal line don't get it in. They were only down by 1 at the time.
That would leave the Saints with the challenge of going 60-70 yds in about a half minute, which they could do of course.
Anyway, interesting scenario to think about.

Are they even blocking?
Any and all new Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer factoids must be approved by Ivan Johnson

Ryan Clady is so wasted blocking for a left handed QB
They should trade him to us for Baker straight up =D

On A different note
I read on NFL.com that the Falcons asked permission to interview Clements and Koeter. Clements, sure, but Koeter, please no. That would be MM all over again. If he’s the hire, Mike Smith should be f-ing fired immediately for refusing to let go of his uber-conservative scheming. Ughhhhh
