Bob Bratkowski To Jaguars
The only in-house coordinator candidate that I know of is going to Jacksonville to be Mike Mularkey's new OC. How...oddly appropriate.
Mel Tucker is staying on as the Jags defensive coordinator, so you can cross him off the DC candidate list.

Good to hear
Really didn’t want him. I thought Tucker would have been a solid choice at DC, but oh well.
now there seem to be a lot of holes to fill
in various coaching positions.
Wow
I can only guess the embarrassing nature of our exit this year caused Smitty, TD, and Blank to rethink their strategy. I completely believed that Bratkowski accepted the job here with the idea that he was a safe choice to take over for Mularkey and would get that opportunity as soon as it came available. Sounds like the front office decided they didn’t want the safe choice, and he moved on to the position he wanted here – but in Jacksonville. The hunt for a new OC just got really interesting.
Yes. Yes it did. Is the rest of the offensive staff going too?

Is Spags on the wish list?
If not, who else is available?

Extremely happy about Bratkowski.
Kinda disappointed about Tucker. The good outweighed the bad so I’m happy with the update

So..
Now we need a DC a OC and a QB coach. Has the water boy signed yet? He coulde be next to go you know. I heard his gatorade blend was inconsistent all year.
Spoon, Lofton, and Waterboy?
Now THAT is a nasty LB trio

Writing on the wall
I think Bratkowski was brought in quickly under the belief that if Mularkey got snatched up, we would have a comparable OC to fill his shoes quickly. When he didn’t immediately get the OC position after MM left, I think it became clear to him that he would NOT be getting the position.
I view this as a positive. As others have said, this forces the organization to go outside their comfort zone and there are quite a few good candidates out there.
BB may
Have only come here to “audition” for MM’s OC. If MM just left and didn’t get a HC slot BB could have slid in here as OC and it not havebeen a drastic shift. Or he could go with MM as his OC, seeing as they agree on philosophy apparently.

I think the situation was pretty obvious
this offseason wasn’t about the status quo. MM and BB would essentially be the same people. We all knew that, MS TD and AB all knew that. When that colossal fail of a playoff game happened, and everyone knew shit was going to hit the fan, BB realized he wasn’t going to be the guy to take MM’s place. So instead he followed him to Jax, which in my mind is great for both sides.
We can now bring in two new coaches on offense who can work together and have Matt crush Drew Brees’ and Tom Brady’s passing records. 6000 yards and 60 TDs anyone?

idk....
Because I don’t want the defense to be in the situation where that’s necessary to win. No need to completely lack class and run up the score. You know, like keeping MR in there when we’re already up by 30+
just a slight exaggeration
But I was reading Tom Clements profile on Green Bay’s page. We really need to make a run at this guy for either coaching position.
He could definitely make Matty take the next step.

To play devil's advocate
Rodgers spent 2 years sitting on the bench learning from one of the best qb’s of all-time. How much of his progression is that and how much is Tom Clements?
The qb coach/OC need to be specifically chosen to work together and build everything around MR, but also pushing MR to the level that everyone knows he can play at. It’ll be tough, but the potential for him to be the next Brady is there.
Throw in Flynn
And Farve also had improved seasons after Clements showed up. Green Bay had an atrocious line, and still does.
Take a look at his Bio, he comes with an impressive resume (talking results here), and he would be hard to pass up for either position.
Taking into account wins and stats for the last 4 years, Matt is easily the best QB drafted in the last 4 years. His playoff record gives him a bad name right now. But there were other greats who tok a while to win one, and still have trouble winning in the post season.

Oh, I agree completely
but I don’t want to get into this mental habit of thinking that just because some offense puts up crazy numbers, every coach on that offense is “the solution”.
I’m sure he’s an excellent coach, but I’m just trying to look for all the possible reasons he might not live up to the hype, so to speak.
i got you
it’s always a gamble. While individually Roddy and julio may be better than any of their receivers individually, as a complete unit though, Green Bay is better. And possibly any QB with half a brain could rip apart another team.
But I think we need to pluck a coach from a winning franchise to at least bring that attitude and mentality of being a winner, and not settling for being good. So guys like Billick or Clements should be a the top of the list for that reason.

That should be our marketing campaign this year...maybe we could cross merchandise with Marvel
Yes I’m an unapologetic old school comics fan
And Joss Whedon, believe it or not, likes Football.
So there’s that.

Man I really feel bad for the Jags.
Hopefully only looks worse than it really is.
Bratkowski did orchestrate an offense that was top knotch in Cincinnati before Carson when INT prone, from 2004-2007ish
