Friday Falcons Injury Report: Three Declared Out For Seahawks Game

I had hoped that only Jonathan Babineaux would miss the Seahawks game, but we rarely get so lucky.

In addition to the USS Babineaux, which is battling problems with its engines, the Falcons are going to be without Stephen Nicholas and Jason Snelling. Nicholas will be out for a second straight week, leaving his starting outside linebacker job to run-stopping old guy Mike Peterson, who is a more than capable fill-in.

Losing Snelling to a concussion means Jacquizz Rodgers will get more run this weekend against the Seahawks, an outcome I have no problem with. I talked about the need to use Rodgers more earlier in the week, and I remain convinced that he's going to be one hell of a weapon for the Falcons before long. He's not in Snelling's class as a blocker, but as a pass catcher out of the backfield and occasional runner, he'll do just fine.

Roddy White is also listed as questionable, but I put less than zero stock in that designation. White's been listed as questionable since 2008 and has caught like 3,000 passes in that span. Color me ready to see him wreak havoc on the Seahawks' secondary.

Weigh in on the injury report, if you would.

All you Julio owners need to be prepared for a big week from him.

Mark my words, I’m good at this.

Pretty much what was expected.

Nothing catastrophic, hopefully Nicholas and Snelling will be good to go for GB. Any idea if Babs could be back for that one as well?

I agree about White, he caught 115 passes last year being questionable.

Not really unexpected.

The only one that is going to really hurt us is Babs. Rodgers might have a good day. They might be able to use his catching abilities to use as a check down receiver.

Quizz finally gonna get a decent shot

Sadly MM is still in charge which will hamstring him. Instead of screens and such, we’ll see at least a few runs up the middle. Since we don’t believe in screens I pray we see some designed dump offs to him, not check downs mind you(tho I’ll take those too!)but plays designed to get him in space, thus unleashing his ankle breaking powers. Let’s give the packers something else they have to study and worry about on film. Unlike the playoff game.

not scared

these injuries hurt , but we have time to beat the hawks, then get healthy and prepare to whoop the shit out of green bay.

Not worried at all. Get back to our true Identity!

Get back to ground and pounding the ball with a mix of Michael Turner and Jacquizz Rodgers! This is a time for the offensive line to step up also! If they get bullied by a weak (and I do mean weak) Seattle defensive line and allow them to sack Matt Ryan – then it’s time to see what the backups can do and see if they can become starters. Once you do this – then the passing game will open up more. If Roddy White can’t play then my Receiving Core will start: Harry Douglas, Julio Jones, Eric Weems, and Kerry Meier, and Tony Gonzalez and have Ovie Mughelli and Michael Turner rotate sometimes stay in the backfield to protect Matt Ryan in case a defensive lineman get in the backfield.

We Need

To come out and win 55-7 I know it’s crazy but we need a shot of adrenaline to beat the packers and a blowout to get us hot is exactly what we need!!!!!!

Did anyone of you see NFL Live on ESPN?

Herm Edwards had said everything I had been saying for the past 3 weeks. Sam Baker either needs to be rotated to another position on the line and try to get under a defensive linemen’s pads at the point of attack. He also said like I’ve been saying about the Falcons Defense is also do some Bump N Run within 3 yards of an opponents receiver and try to force him where you want him to go. Now I have been reading most of everyone’s comments and some of you have real answer to help the Atlanta Falcons while the rest of you have no idea what your talking about. Get rid of Sam Baker?! Are you kidding me? And most of you think that will solve everything. Put down the Madden game please. If you get rid of Sam Baker that would mean that they would have to put in a rookie in his place that barely knows the line and doesn’t know how to tell which guy is coming. The offensive line is getting dominated not only because of Sam Baker – it’s because no one is winning the battle up front and not opposing their will at the point of attack! And the Defense needs to stop playing zone on every freaking down! That would be good if it like 3rd and long or 4th and long. Play some Man Coverage! All this talent the Atlanta Falcons has on this team and you mean to tell my guys like Brent and Dunta Robinson can’t play Man Coverage?! BS!!! I bet if Mike Smith had a Defensive Coordinator that likes to play Man and Zone defensive – he would be a lot happier. NFL Live said that Mike Smith has pressure on him to be Seattle – and I agree he does. After the Falcons beat the Eagles you mean to tell me we can’t beat Seattle?! Think about this people – is it Mike Smith or the people he has around him calling the plays? Since the play calling hasn’t changed in 3 years – look for the Seattle game to be a close game. And the play calling needs to change and fast because next week Green Bay is coming and they want to punk us out in our own house.

You know it doesn't surprise me.

If I was expecting you to say, ’ There’s no way Green Bay will come here and punk us out in our house! or ‘The Falcons will find a way to beat Green Bay next week!’, then I was wrong. If I expected you to say that you and Herm Edwards are wrong about Mike Smith needing this win and he doesn’t have pressure on him to beat Seattle, then I was disappointed. Instead of saying anything like that – the 2 people that did respond chose to take the easy way out and took cheap shots at me. You want to talk about ‘Seriously?’ Okay. Seriously, the Seattle Seahawks are not as important as the Green Bay Packers coming here next week. Seriously, they embarrassed the Atlanta Falcons here at the Georgia Dome in the Play offs and in front of their fans. Seriously, most of you already has the Atlanta Falcons losing this game and already has crowned them the best team in the league – after 3 games?! The theme for the Atlanta Falcons is ‘Rise Up’. But some of you have ‘Given Up’. When a team is down on it’s luck and sometimes read these posts – and they really do – I want them to feel there’s a fan out there that believes in them and still think they can beat anybody on any given day. I know we have the right talent to beat them. I was speaking with someone on this board who says he has tickets to the game and it would be so sweet if the Atlanta Falcons beat Green Bay here and break their winning streak because if they don’t then he would begin to wonder about the Falcons. Sounds like a fan is losing faith in his team to me. The rest of the schedule after Green Bay are teams that the most of us know that the Falcons can beat. I remember when New England went unbeaten for a whole season and everybody already had them crowned to win the Super Bowl. Then what happened?

by Antonio Grimes on Oct 1, 2011 12:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Ok, I really wasn't going to respond to your original post, but

You get upset when someone takes the ‘easy way’ and takes a shot at you? Just what exactly, then, did you do to most of us on here?

Now I have been reading most of everyone’s comments and some of you have real answer to help the Atlanta Falcons while the rest of you have no idea what your talking about.

Seriously, you need to step down off of your high horse.

by GA-James on Oct 1, 2011 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I wasn't taking a cheap shot but commenting on what other people said

As I said before – some people have already gave up on the Atlanta – Green Bay game – I read their post – not come up with it out of thin air. You see, it’s not a cheap shot when someone says it and your just commenting on what they said. And I’m supposed to be on a high horse when I believe in the Atlanta Falcons! I’m supposed to believe they can beat anybody in the league! It’s called being a fan!

by Antonio Grimes on Oct 1, 2011 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions

I wasn't taking a cheap shot at you

as I said, once you get through patting youself on the back take breath and settle down. You make out like you’re the only person that has made those comments OVER THE PAST YEAR and you’re not. As a matter of fact that is probably the tenth rambling post where you’ve said the exact same thing. If you bothered to read some posts you’d see that there are many fans here that agree with you.

My post was not intended as a cheap shot but if you take it that way, well, Meh, I don’t really care.

by mwalex on Oct 1, 2011 5:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Obviously you're the one that was offended

Because I NEVER said who it was that didnt know what they were talking about and when you tell someone to ‘Pat themselves on the back’ I hardly think anybody would take that as a compliment.

by Antonio Grimes on Oct 1, 2011 5:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Then make your comments clear

You can’t offend me unless I put value in what is said. So you didn’t offend me.
