Will The Falcons' Linebackers Keep Up The Pace?

Very quick discussion tonight. Big game tomorrow, after all.

Up to this point, the Falcons' linebackers have been prolific tacklers. They've not been perfect, but Sean Weatherspoon has flashed elite athleticism and Curtis Lofton has been his usual stellar self. Stephen Nicholas has been a quality starter, too. The linebackers, in short, have been almost everything they were supposed to be.

Will they keep up the pace? Is this the year that guys like Curtis Lofton and Sean Weatherspoon get Pro Bowl berths? Will they destroy the Bucs? Let's hope.

Talk it out.

Not quite sure if they will destroy them, but I think we get the “W”.

Also, I thought SNicholas was out tomorrow? I thought I read that somewhere at least. Either way, LB’s will be fine tomorrow. Peterson is no bum.

They should have a big day in Tampa

Tampa will give ATL a steady diet of Blount in the early goings. Expect to see some double digit tackle totals from Spoon and Lofton. Get that W ATL!!!

Besides, I took that to mean that the Linebacker play will destroy not the overall game. Now as a Falcons fan would I welcome that, absolutely.

And, I’m as real as it gets son. I do respect you though, you don’t come over here and trash talk and you have very insightful things to say…on both sides. Some of my best friends are Buc’s fans…but we let each other have it though…lol

Will definitely be a good game and I look forward to it.

Ya know...

I like Bucfan. He isnt like some of the iggles fans or ravens fans or saints fans (we have had some stellar fans from those teams post here as well so dont think I am slamming all their fans). He comes, says his points, doesnt treat anyone like they are about to be waterboarded (had to throw that in since waterboarding started with pirates if I recall?) and he can acknowledge areas where his team sucks. To be a real fan one must be able to do that.
Now, about Buc fans…I lived in Tampa for my senior year in HS (Robinson Knights ’90—yeah I am old!) and it was a fun time since both our teams sucked! Never had a problem with any of them. Of course, we werent division rivals back than but their fans were still cool. And the die-hards went all out for their team.

Pro-Bowl

I don’t know if they’ll get Pro-Bowl berths. Lofton has to deal with Patrick Willis and big names like Brian Urlacher at his position every year, which is a shame, because he outperforms them most years.

Sean Weatherspoon has it even worse with a bunch for 3-4 OLBs racking up sacks like Clay Matthews to take his spot. Hopefully whoever coaches will see them and pick them up.

And one of them is Aqib Talib!!! It would be funny – well – funny to me if he thought he could play tomorrow and it turns out he can’t. And before anybody say I’m being cruel lets remember what he did to get himself in this predicament and who he seriously hurt.

This is another reason I love the Falcons

This organization has had some phenomenal linebackers over time, and I really do believe these 3 have the potential to be the best 4-3 tandem of linebackers in the NFL as well as the best tandem in Falcons history.

These guys have to make plays

or they will simply be just servicable LBs. I’m not talking about just getting tackles or tackles for a loss, I’m talking about sacks, fumbles, and interceptions. A lot of criticisim has been about the DBs and not enough about the LBs as far as pass defense is concerned and I believe a lot of that has to do with the fact that the falcons haven’t had a history of playmaking LBs. We’re used to our LBs just stopping the run, leading the team in tackles and sometimes blitzing that we hardly expect them to do more.

eeking out a victory by a few points and seemingly playing only slightly better than the competition. I want to see mayhem and destruction in TB. I want the D to piledge and burn the Bucs O and leave a wake of terror like few have seen from our BVG powered defense. No offense Bucfan.
