Hi Falcoholics, it's that time of week again, when EvilFalcon brings you the series history against the 2011 opponents. This week it's the Eagles.
The Eagles lead the all time series, 15-10-1, that dates back to 1966. Here's a useless tidbit for you: The Eagles were the first ever Falcons opponent in 1966, a 9-7 loss in the first preseason game in the ATL, and were the second opponent in the regular season that year, another loss in Philly, 23-10.
But, we'd get them back in 1978 for the first ever playoff game, a 14-13 come from behind deal, on a rainy Christmas Eve in the ATL. How many of you fans were around back then? I saw the game on CBS, got mad at both teams for sloppy play, but the swifter birds of prey prevailed here.
Best game in my opinion was the 1980 game in Philly, in which the Falcons won again by coming from behind, 20-17, on a Tim Mazzetti FG, with little time left, it sealed the first ever home field advantage in the playoffs, for what it was worth.
The Eagles have won the last four, three of those have been pretty ugly to say the least. The Falcons are due to beat these guys, but I'm not to sure about this game on Sunday. The 2011 Eagles are loaded, with speed up the ying-yang, and they are very, very good. Hey, at least they are not in the NFC south, and not the friggin' Cowboys!
The media will kiss Vick's butt, as usual, and Cris Collinsworth will have a field day, as he always does. I try to stay away from the talking head stuff, all blah, blah, blah, if you ask me. Just get your news online, best way to go.
Not making a prediction this week, don't want to curse them! Will be back next week with installment number three, the Bucs. Arrrrggghhh!!!!
