Big tip of the chapeau to Heath13 for calling our attention to Chris Owens' alleged idiocy this morning. First and foremost, it's important to note that no charges have been filed. His ex sought - and presumably was given - a protective order on Monday. Sans an actual criminal case levied against him, Owens just needs to stay away from her.

According to a Gwinnett County police incident report, Latia Terry, 22, told officers that she left her apartment at 11 p.m. on Sunday, and when she returned home late Monday morning, the door was still locked, but the apartment had been burglarized and her possessions damaged.

If charges are filed and these allegations are proven, then I'll be disappointed to say the least. The recent Q and A he did with DOL got me all giddy about our incumbent nickel's potential going forward. Smitty and company have shown some tolerance for rule of law diversions, but Owens is accused of some malicious, next-level transgressions.

Given the uncertainty underlying Owens' on-the-field contributions, you'd have to think they'll cut him if need be. Right or wrong, if Roddy did the same thing, the FO probably wouldn't go there. In any case, because the Gwinett DA has yet to file charges, we may very well see this swept under the rug.
