Your Least Favorite Atlanta Falcon Ever
This is the kind of discussion that brings out the flames of hatred in you guys, which makes it a fun kind of discussion.
Who is your least favorite Falcon? Everyone must have a terrible memory of something or someonewho stands out from the last 45 years of Falcondom. There must be a Peerless Price or Eugene Robinson somewhere that attracted your considerable ire.
I put this thread up not to disparage former Falcons, but to look at the moments and players that stick out to you guys as dedicated fans. If you'll oblige me, I think we can get a pretty interesting talk going.

Do Coaches count as Falcons?
If so, P*trino by far
Chicago Blackhawks = Champs
Let football season begin. GO FALCONS!
I was...
was thinking him as well but I kind of gave him a “pass” due to the mess Vick created. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t like his sorry a$$ but…

My second choice
I get that athletes are stoopud. I get that athletes think they’re bulletproof.
But Petrino was the quintessence of gutless.
Sorry but you've got to lay that one
at the feet of Arthur Blank.

Maybe a little bit of it
But it’s definitely not explicitly his fault. Should he have bit on a college coach, absolutely not, but you can’t blame Blank for Piss-rino never being invested in the job from the beginning. He knew he was parlaying it into another SEC job from the start and never put any effort into it.
Regardless of the Vick situation, Piss-rino absolutely quit on this team much sooner than he physically quit the job in Week 13. There is nothing in my opinion that gives him a pass in any way, but one could say that it does exclude him from ever being considered a Falcon, because I know I sure as hell don’t.

Least favorite might be a bit much, but I’m going with D’angelo Hall

Give me a second
But these guys come to mind:
Ashley Lelie
Joey Harrington
Jamal Andersen
Keith Brooking
I think that's a bit harsh on Brooking
He had 1 bad play and acted like a douchebag in 1 game but he gave the team so much.
And a bit harsh on Harrington as well. He was signed to be a backup, wasn’t he? Shaub got traded and Vick was supposed to be the man. Harrington was just there to have a body backing him up.
I don’t know, I just find it hard to hate a guy who didn’t play very well when the only reason he played was that the guy in front of him wasn’t able to do so.

Agreed.
But I still remember his s**t during the Cowboys game in ‘09, and that will stick with me forever, regardless of Falcon status. Other than that and the brain fart during the ’08 playoffs, he has and done a lot for the Falcons and community. It’s too bad he went to play for Emperor Palpatine’s bunch.

He was so electrifying to watch and brought a whole different element to the team. I was always lobbying for him to be a WR/RB that can throw combo long before the Wildcat came into existence. I would also get so frustratingly mad at him for missing so many easy passes and than he would go and make a pass that according to physics was impossible to make. Than he started to bring so much shame and discredit to the organization. Than he got it right, so, MV, I loved you before you started to get in trouble, couldnt stand you while in trouble and I am glad to see you have turned the Starship Vick (I think thats what Gruden called him?) around. Good luck in all your games except when you play us. When that happens I want stats like 3/38 for 12 yards / 5 int / 18 sacks for 173 yards lost. The rest of the time you can be phenomenal, ok?
Dont cloud the issue with facts!
Although...
I certainly don’t put him in the same boat as Eugene Robinson (as my posts below will show) but he still gave the Falcons one hell of a black eye and I will NEVER forgive him for that.
I too loved to watch him play. I agree with everything you said, although I certainly don’t wish the successful career you do but I wouldn’t make me unhappy either…

the main reason I wish a successful career for him...
…is to prove to people that it is never too late to turn your life around.
Dont cloud the issue with facts!
I know we like to...
think of football as life, it is really just a job (admittedly, a fun one they get to make allot of money at)…but just because he does well at his job does not equal “good person”. It is his “off field” stuff I want to see, helping the communities, repenting a little, asking for forgiveness instead of expecting it just because he is talented on the field (not saying he is acting that way…just saying). I would like to truly believe he is sorry for what he did. Currently I just feel he wanted to get back to playing football and making millions…but that’s just me…
Hope he does turn it around (his actually becoming a good person) and I like and understand your optimism for him…wish I shared it but currently I don’t.

are all Keith Brooking. And probably the next 50 as well.

well up until late last yr, It was D Sanders for me….. now i have to rethink that since he is going in the HOF as a Falcon lol …… so we have who ? P Price, J George , A Bruce , D Hall , B Patrino, M Vick ,JA98 and C Miller hummmmmmm tough choice lol

let’s face it, the falcons have had their share of dirtbags as suggested by all of the posts so far. more than our share? who knows?
Top 5
1. Marion “The Swamp Fox” Campbell – 2nd stint as head coach
2. Vick
3. J. George
4. D Hall
5. Jimmy Williams
The multiple first round draft choice busts are omitted, I really don’t think they were bad guys, just couldn’t play.
And also...
Eugene Robinson
On the night before the Super Bowl, Falcons safety Eugene Robinson was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. While driving alone in a rented car along a downtown Miami street, he approached a female undercover police officer posing as a prostitute and offered $40 for oral sex. Although he was released from jail and allowed to play the game, he was widely denounced by the press and fans for the incident. Robinson’s arrest was especially ironic because on the very morning of the day it happened, he had received the Bart Starr Award for his “high moral character.”
What a tard…

I can't believe I forgot about dumb Robinson.
Hearing his name makes me want to kick him in the rear everytime.
Honestly I threw up a little bit
when I read his name. After all those years waiting for the team to make it to the Super Bowl and wake up that morning and find out that the game was probably already lost. If Jesus asked me to forgive Eugene I’d ask “Why?”

It would have to be
Vick. Jeff George was a poison, but he didn’t singlehandedly take down the entire organization. Deion was a distraction who never focused on football while a Falcon, but didn’t harm the team like Vick, he just didn’t live up to the hype. While Rison was involved in the wimpiest nfl fight on television (slapfight with Deion), he didn’t do the damage of Vick. Aundrey Bruce was a major disappointment, but nothing else. Eugene Robinson probably cost the Falcons the SB with hookergate, but otherwise was a good, smart player who didn’t cause trouble. Dave Archer used to drive me crazy but he wasn’t in the same catagory as Vick in this debate. Favre gets some consideration because he was such a waste in ATL when we’ve seen how he could play sober.
Before Vick I would have said Jeff George without hesitation. Now George (in typical fashion) loses the contest. If Smitty and company hadn’t turned around the team, I don’t think there would be any debate it is Vick.
I like where they are now
so much I won’t even go back to the dark side and think about it. However if one were to waterboard me I would say Charles Dimry. And the entire coaching staff that left him unprotected against Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. I still think that those two guys should have asterisks next to their names because they had four games every year against the Saints and Falcons.
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.
The Clampetts
For years the Clampetts…er.. Smiths ran this franchise like a seven year collecting trading cards that an older sibling had thrown out.
There’s a reason the Falcons never had consecutive winning seasons until recently. For all those years, the Smiths were some of the worst owners in sports.
Mr. Hawes, may I introduce you to the Atlanta Spirit LLC?

Dave Archer
That was the first name I thought of. It’s not that he was a d-bag or anything, far from it- he’s probably a great guy and a not-bad announcer- but he was a terrible quarterback and our offense stunk when he was under center. He was one of the first to follow Bartkowski, and was hamstrung by Dan Henning and his Dead Zone offense (poor Gerald Riggs)…but I was very happy when he got on with his life’s work and left the Falcons.
..and...
the usual suspects- Deion, Brooking, George. Robinson was an idiot, but I will forever cut him slack for laying Jerry Rice out flat and making him drop a TD pass in a game I saw once.
by johnnybacardi on Jun 14, 2011 7:22 PM EDT up reply actions
Doesn't...
even come close to making up for what Robinson did (besides, everyone gets a good hit now and again…even against one of the greatest receivers of all time). That man will forever be the picture in my dictionary by the words: Idiot, moron, douchebag, etc…the list is long and I could do this ALL night.
by Joseph K. Houston on Jun 14, 2011 9:54 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah...
…he was a moron, no doubt about that. But if anyone thinks he was solely responsible for the Falcons being unable to do anything with Elway and company, well, they’re wrong. The great teams rise above that crap.
Besides, greatest of all time or not, I hate Rice with the raging fury of a thousand suns, no matter how cutesy he gets with Kenny Mayne on Dancing with the Stars. So, Eugene gets that slack from me for putting the hurt on him. Guess you had to be there.

Nah...
your good. We will never agree on the “Jerry Rice” thing but at least we agree Robinson was (is) a moron…lol
“raging fury of a thousand suns”…wow, that’s allot of hate!! I’ll have to remember that one…gets the point across and leaves NO room for doubt…hahaha

Good Points
Eugene Robinson, Kenney Johnson, and Mike Vick.
"I will give my all for Tennessee, Thrashers, and Falcons Today."
Can't pick just one
Peerless Price
Jamaal Anderson
Bobby Petrino
MeAngelo Hall
Chris Houston
Justin Blalock (on Madden lol the guy walked backwards in front of the ball on an extra point AND a field goal to cost me a superbowl)
by FLA_Falcon on Jun 14, 2011 8:00 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Jamaal Anderson, Bruce Pickens and Aundray Bruce
Sheesh, the trifecta here. What BLOODY AWFUL picks. :( Set each of those teams back several years.
ROBINSON
Forgive me if I am wrong but did he not also lead the team prayer before games??
Without question
Some permutation of Mike Vick, Deangelo Hall and Eugene Robinson. I think Brooking is getting a bit of a raw deal though. One bad play and his behaviour in one game doesn’t erase a career.
Does anyone remember Doug Johnson
Then Peerless Price

Definitely...
Petrino. Biggest weasel move ever.
Joe Horn
Hated him with the Aints and couldn’t stand that he came to the Falcons.
Joe Horn
Is the person that turned Roddy White around and changed his work ethic. Just for that fact he shouldn’t be on this list.
Doesn't...
Roddy also give allot of credit for becoming the receiver he has the last couple of years to TG also, especially in the arena of becoming a better catcher and being more “sure handed”. I am pretty sure I saw an interview where he said that…tried to find it but I couldn’t.

Don't care if you do or don't
Those were the comment and quotes coming out of ATL at that point in time. I don’t expect your opinion to change based on anything said here.
Wayne Gandy.
I hate him more than any athlete ever. I can acknowledge that Brooking was a team leader, but he was the anti play-maker. Alge was the same way; consistently inconsistent. Joey ‘Blue Skies’ Harrington heard footsteps in his sleep. But Wayne Gandy was the worst. God I hate that fat b@sterd.
Smokey says: Only you can BVG forest fires.
Michael Vick
I’ve never felt more betrayed by a single sports figure than him. He literally shot us down when we had so much expectations. Petrino was gutless but, he left cause he realized he was in a shit situation. Personally I hope Vick gets injured. Badly.
Jamaal Anderson
I think his inability to resemble an NFL player set the D back for years . He was supposed to make the team forget about Kearney but his poor play has led to over reliance on Abe and more stress on the secondary. Some may argue that he’s a decent run stopper, but he was drafted to be an elite pass rusher-which he clearly is not..
Price
I can’t think of another player that I absolutely hated while he was with the Falcons more than I hated Price. Sure, Vick put the Falcons in a horrible position to win games just by not being there, but after that, it’s still up to the remaining players to put forth the effort to increase those chances as much as possible, and not once did Price put forth any effort. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I watch him quit on a route or not even bother to put his damned hands up in an attempt to catch the ball. It was as if Vick not being there was reason enough for him to just show up and collect a check. It still angers me now.
"You could spend the next fifteen seconds of your life watching a man and a tiger scream together, or you could be an idiot."
Fact.
This is a tough Poll - great idea.
I’m putting personal, off-the-field stuff aside. Who was the Falcon who made me CRINGE the most when he was on the field? Lelie and Price are up there, but my vote has to go to Jerry Glanville’s Tim McKyer. Maybe I’m being unfair, since QB’s just threw to the side of the field Prime Time didn’t cover, and McKyer had to defend Steve Young passes (56-17; 41-3?!?!?) for those years.
I can’t call out our many 1st round draft busts – those guys were put in positions to play by men who should have known better. What was worse was to see players with good stats come to Atlanta and play lousy.
Yeah – Jeff George gets some votes here, too.
June Jones
Horrible back up QB
Bad Offensive Coordinator
Terrible Head Coach
But on the other hand a good college coach. Hmm, might be able to say that about another former head coach.
Who is your least favorite Falcon?
NONE…I LOVE ALL FALCONS!!
..BUT PETRINO…MMMM…
Price
No one in my lifetime came in with higher expectations and did less, in my honest opinion.

Simple——Jerry Glanville for his trade of Bret Favre and his arrogance. Second, the Smith Family. Third, Jeff George. Tie for Fourth, Rison and Deion(although thats more for his FSU days).
Robinson.....
Erased all the good vibes of a magical season with one selfish act…..surprised he hasn’t surfaced in politics, he would fit in perfectly with all the two-faced sleazebags in Washington
He Who Shall Not Be Named (P******) is a gimmee...
but my second least favorite Falcon (at least, for many years) will be a shocker:
Gerald Riggs
To me, he was always the guy who took William Andrews’ place, and that automatically made him a “bad guy.” Emotional scars in those developmental years can be tough to overcome…
However, now that I am older and wiser, I no longer carry that grudge. Still, Riggs was my least favorite for a long time.
Peerless Price
