In this series of sponsored posts, we'll be looking at the ten worst and ten best Atlanta Falcons draft picks of all time. Let's start with the worst. Today's choice is former defensive end Nathan Davis.
If not for his draft position, Nathan Davis might go down as the worst draft pick in the history of the Atlanta Falcons.
A little context. Davis was a second round pick in the infamous 1997 draft, the same draft that yielded the putrid fruit that was Michael Booker, Byron Hanspard and O.J. Santiago. Tony Graziani might have been the best player in that draft, and that is extremely depressing.
The second overall pick in the second round, Davis was a woeful selection from the start. In his rookie season, he played in two games with the Falcons. He then resurfaced with the Cowboys in 1999, playing a handful of games before heading to Canada and cobbling together a decent career there. He literally did nothing in his NFL career, so you really can't call him anything other than an enormous, radioactive bust.
The Indiana University defensive end must have had something to recommend him from his college career, but his lack of production is almost astonishing. Considering we've had busts like Jamaal Anderson putting up a handful of sacks and contributing, his complete lack of even a single tackle for the Falcons is somewhere north of galling. Gah, 90's Falcons!
When the most unique identifying feature for you is your dreadlocks, your career probably isn't earning you a Hall of Fame berth.
