Fantasy Football Playoff Heeeeeeellp!!!

So yeah crucial week this week cause I've got big decisions to make. I have Cam Newton and Tom Brady, a WR core in Dez, Anquan, Antonio Brown, Plaxico, and Julio, RBs Turner, Murray, Steven Jackson, Tolbert, and DST Chicago and The Jets.

Although I know the falcons have a must win next week at Carolina I'm tempted to start Cam because he's a FF beast, but against the falcons D? Chicago against Denver would have been a no-brainer a few weeks ago.....but apparently there's a Tebow factor. Help here is much appreciated.

I'd got w/the jets D

Juicy matchup against the chiefs at home.

Let's rec this up as the new fantasy thread everyone

Think Sun could be a shootout, I wouldn’t hesitate starting Cam. And as good as CHI has been, the Jets are playing against a completely inept Chiefs OFF right now. They only scored on a fluke hail mary play last week.

WRs: I’d go Dez, Anquan, and Julio (I think the coaching staff is going to want to showcase him on Sunday to get JJ’s confidence back and calm the fans). Plus, CAR’s secondary is prone to a good torching.

RBs are hard b/c Murray didn’t look nearly as good last week w/ Felix back in the equation. Turner is a def. start (another showcase situation), Jackson would prob. be my #2

I was kinda thinking Julio will probably have a better game this Sun

The only reservation I have with Steven Jackson is that St. Louis’ offensive line has supoosedly been banged up.

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

Yeah, a new thread is good.

I’m hesitant on Julio to be honest. Sitting Antonio Brown for a receiver hurt twice this year that is as boom/bust as Julio? In my opinion, your homerism is showing. Brown has been very good lately, and Joe Haden can only cover one of Antonio Brown/Mike Wallace. I believe he’ll be covering Wallace. Can Julio go out and get 100+ with a score? You bet, he showed he could do even more. Could Julio go out and get one reception and nothing else? I wouldn’t be surprised either. I wouldn’t blame anyone for playing Julio against CAR, but Brown is a much safer pick IMO.

You're right, but

I’m always hesitant to recommend starting players that are going on Thurs. Nights. In addition to the players having less time to prepare and being more tired than usual, I hate having to lock a player into my roster that early. There’s a lot of significant stuff that happens in the NFL b/n Thurs Night and Sundays.

Plus, Brown hasn’t been a revelation or anything (only 1 receiving TD for the year), but it is true that he’ll get you at least 65 yards and a few catches. So, considering that he and Julio probably match up pretty evenly, I’d go with Julio based on intution, and yes, homerism.

Depends if its PPR

If it isn’t, Brown loses a lot of value. As for SJax, his line isn’t supposedly banged up, it’s been annihilated. I want to say the entire line is different than the one they started the season with. This also includes injuries to guys who took over for injured players. I know your pain. I had to start SJax last week in our first playoff week. Luckily my WR’s were on and I actually am no longer the Mike Smith of our fantasy league. I actually won a playoff game!!!
As for Murray, check on the cowboys FB’s status. I want to say that I heard during the broadcast that he was out and that was the reason Murray was not his usual self.

by aces666high on Dec 6, 2011 10:48 PM EST up reply actions

Here it is

Backed into the playoffs as a six seed despite a 4 game losing streak to end the season. Thankfully, that means I’m due (though I have had terrible luck), but I still want to maximize my players obviously.

My league is .5 PPR

RBs: Mendy (locked), and I’m conflicted over Spiller (v SD) or Blount (v Jax). JAX got ripped apart last week, but Blount likely won’t have Freeman throwing the ball so they might concentrate on stopping him. After the Bucs terrible rushing performance against CAR last week, I have absolutely no confidence in him or that team. Leaning Spiller. Also, I have Peterson trying to get healthy on my bench. If he tries to play, do you start him (facing DET) over a healthy spiller?

WRs: VJax and Hakeem Nicks locked. For Flex I’m considering Julio. I’ve got Laurent Robinson who’s been outstanding, but Miles Austin is coming back, plus LR is a little banged up. I’ve also got Branch, Denarious Moore (banged up), and Austin Collie (waiver stash for next season potentially). So, basically it’s b/n Julio and Laurent. Leaning Julio, b/c again, I think the staff is going to try and build his confidence back this week, and a shoot-out is not out of the realm of possibility in this game (tho, neither is it in the DAL/NYG game).

HELP!

Even with MA coming back...

Romo looks to LR and there’s no denying he makes plays. I’m riding the Julio fence myself…I think with Gamble on White all day…JJ makes his presence felt, but there’s always that fear that Safety help over the top on JJ and CG 1 on 1 with White…

So basically, I just gave you absolutely no help and probably made your decision much more difficult…

Similar to post one...

JJ or Antonio Brown?

Both are getting targetted

Antonio is more consistent right now. If you can live a few recs and 50-70 yards, I’d go Antonio. Don’t see the Steelers having to throw too much, though.

I think the difference will come down to...

Falcons in a close win vs. Pitt in what should be a run away game…

I hope you went with Brown

cause I sure as hell didn’t. I had been starting Wallace and Brown with good success but decided to go with just Wallace(can’t sit Wallace) cause of the short week/everyone runs on Cleveland. All I can say is Julio better have a big week.

by Hutch11 on Dec 8, 2011 11:20 PM EST reply actions

Also Blount or Michael Bush?

A lot of the Jags D is on IR and they got tore up by a struggling and I really can’t see Blount struggling so hard again. Bush is playing the Pack who I would expect to have a big lead meaning not much running. Bush does catch though. Ahhh this decision would be way easier with Brown’s 24 points not on my bench.

by Hutch11 on Dec 8, 2011 11:28 PM EST up reply actions

Screwed either way

Blount got stopped by the Panthers last week. Read that sentence one more time. And again. I have no confidence in him or the Bucs OLine. Especially with Freeman likely out, Blount is highly radioactive to me right now.

by KMarch on Dec 9, 2011 12:26 AM EST up reply actions

Freeman...

is supposed to be back this week…I’d start Blount. However, Carson is a better QB and the overall offense is better on paper against the bears.

Damn Steelers

making it hard for themselves by not running the ball. Brown’s long TD was a complete fluke display. Sucks if you sat him, brilliant if you didn’t. Now, why a team with a lead doesn’t run the ball with 3 minutes left, who knows?

Oh yeah, b/c your RB and OLine couldn’t get it in the damn endzone despite 4 tries from 2 yards out.

by KMarch on Dec 9, 2011 12:25 AM EST up reply actions

Unfortunately...

Brown and his 79yrd TD is sitting on my bench with 23 fantasy points…JJ better outperform him!!

It seems like

a lot of us had both Julio and Brown on our teams. Come on JJ prove us right for starting you!

I'm not gonna lie

when he had that little string of drops I was seriously worried(especially since I only won by 5) but JULIOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Hutch11 on Dec 12, 2011 12:41 AM EST up reply actions

Man, I put Brown in for one of my leagues, and left him out of the other.

I guess I just kinda forgot he was on the bench, but alas, it happens. Thus, I need a good week from the rest of the squad to make me feel better, and this is my last week before playoffs. Standard non-PPR.

RB: Willis McGahee (CHI), DeMarco Murray (NYG), Marion Barber (DEN), Steven Jackson (SEA), Felix Jones (NYG)

WR: Vincent Jackson (BUF), Stevie Johnson (SD), Santana Moss (NE) (I sat Brown, shallow at WR)

I need two of each and a flex. McGahee is more of a game-time decision, depending on how hurt/healthy he is. It sucks that Murray is losing touches, but still looks like a must play to me, based on my squad. I also like all three receivers this week.

by CubFan90 on Dec 9, 2011 11:12 AM EST reply actions

You and me both...

RB: Murray, McGahee
WR: V-Jax, S. Johnson
Flex: S. Jax

Really?

I’m wondering the value of Santana Moss against NE’s secondary to be honest. No Fred Davis, correct?

by CubFan90 on Dec 9, 2011 1:25 PM EST up reply actions

True

No Fred Davis, but Devin McCourty with Patrick Chung of top.

Yeah, it's always a gamble with Belicheck's DEF

he’s going to take away someone. Moss is as good a bet as anyone else. I like Stevie Johnson in what could turn into a shootout.

by KMarch on Dec 9, 2011 6:39 PM EST up reply actions

Plus anyone tied to Rex Grossman is always a gamble

He could pull off a 200 yard 3 int night against defense.

by Hutch11 on Dec 9, 2011 6:55 PM EST up reply actions

Just held on and pulled off the playoff upset

Hakeem Nicks is DA MAN! Won by 2 points, despite having only Hakeem left to play against Demarco Murray, Witten, and Dez Bryant. Eerily paralleled the actual NYG/DAL game.

The true man is MJD this week

I scored the most points I scored all season and needed every one of them to win

by Hutch11 on Dec 12, 2011 12:42 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah MJD was rolling

glad he went off this week instead of on Thurs.
